Yeh I was rudely awoken this morning by the radio shouting every single known word for cannabis then some posh bint saying "call it what you like...but don't call it illegal"

All I thought was YOU SPENT £1,000,000 ON THAT PIECE OF SHIT?! They could've built an extension onto a hospital with that money! They're fucking idiots down in London I tell you!

Oh and on the personal side...never tried it so don't really care whether they legalise it or not...but from what I hear it isn't really that bad for you so why not? Or face the wrath of Kerry... :spangled:

Apparantly it makes you crazy There was some woman on the radio who said she went paranoid n shit after smokin cannabis for years.

It probably won't make a difference anyway! Loadsa people smoked it before and they still will. What's changed? Well...maybe I'll try it instead of being angelic me :angel3:

they made it illegal in the 30's, and til then people were smoknig it like they do tabs, the royal family were stoners too, and so was jesus apparently, it doesnt make you go crazy, i cant scientifically prove that, and it might do in years to come, but so can drink, and tabs kill you quick, why make something so calming and smoothing illegal?

did you know that more people die in a year from using hair dye than they do from using cannibis, will they make that illegal next?

Yeh though, they were saying that shit loads of people take up hospital beds and resources due to smoking yet that's still legal. Apparantly some group are trying to make Liverpool a smoke-free city (like New York) by 2008 for their Capital of Culture thing. I doubt it'll happen but honestly I'd like this. I have no problem with cannabis users 'cos at least they don't sit on the metro or at bus stops smoking in your face.

Actually the other week it was pissing it down and I was going for a bus for work and there was this middle-aged woman in the shelter smoking. I said I had asthma and asked her to put it out so I could keep out of the rain, she was like "OMG SORRY!!!"

And no...I don't have asthma

i read it in a paper, might not be true, but id say its highly likley, how many cannibis related deaths do you hear of, other than people who killed themselves when they were "HIGH ON CANNABIS!" as the papers so kindly point out, then in the small print they mention that they also had high levels of alcohol in their blood. Its the fucking alcohol that makes people go crazy and fight and kill themselves, not the weed!

Craig - Its legal to have cannabis on you, but if it looks like your going to deal or are dealing, you can get arrested for it, theres no limit on how much u can carry around with you, id say if they found a 20 bag you'd be ok, if they found 5 seperate 20 bags your in trouble. its not illegal to have it or smoke it in your own home, but it is illegal to smoke it in public. its also illegal to have it around schools. confusing i know, but thats as much as i can make out from this stupid law. Just fucking legalize it man, save us all this hasstle!

And that's pretty much all it says about like the laws of it :spangled: I think the new thing is pretty much just that they're moving it from Class B to C because it's not as dangerous as the other Class B's.

Is it still illegal?
Yes. You will be breaking the law if...
- You smoke cannabis.
- You possess any, even a small amount.

Will I get arrested?
Probably not. You will get a warning if you are caught smoking it or in possession, and it will be confiscated, but there are circumstances under which you could be arrested:
- If you are obviously smoking in public - this includes concerts and festivals.
- If you are under 17.
- If you are caught smoking where there are likely to be children i.e. near a school or youth group.
- If you are suspected of dealing.
- If you are known locally as repeatedly breaking the law.
- If your behaviour can be described as 'aggravated' i.e. blowing smoke in an officer's face.

Under the Misuse of Drugs Act, it is an offence:
- To unlawfully possess a controlled drug.
- To possess a controlled drug with intent to supply it.
- To unlawfully supply (sell/give/share) a controlled drug.
- To allow premises you occupy or manage to be used for the smoking or use of drugs.

The Home Secretary has also raised the maximum sentence for dealing cannabis from five years to 14 years.

And yeah I know what you mean about the papers. There was a story the other day saying that some guy had shot his neighbour who he'd been arguing with for weeks about something. He shot him when he was (as they say) "HIGH ON CANNABIS!" and then also pointed out he was monged out of his mind on alcohol.

Hmm...so of course that damn cannabis did it! Who says he wasn't crazy and was going to shoot the neighbour anyway??

The papers piss me off when it comes to things like this, i smoke weed everyday, and ive never thought of killing anyone, or even doing anything mallicious. I dont think they should comment when really they dont have a clue about it at all. I had this out with my mam a few weeks ago, its no different to sitting in the house with your mates and drinking a bottle of wine, except of course that its us who are breaking the law, and not the piss heads who go looking for fights coz they are mortal!

so when does this come into affect?
