It’s evident the Country doesn’t want Labour.
The Country doesn’t quite trust Cameron enough to want him either.
The Country definitely doesn’t want Lib-Debs either (despite their 15 minutes of fame) as they’ve lost 3 seats in this election.

It’s all a bit of a mess really.

The Lib dem's vote was up 1% nationally on the last one, but they lost 3 seats. Doesn't seem democratic to me...

Not quite, Lib Dems received 23% of the votes.

Although labour got 29%, a lot of those were would-be Lib Dem voters voting tactically against the conservatives.

I'd say that from what I've heard a lot of people did want Lib Dems, it's just that the current system is tailored to re-electing the same two parties, giving the false illusion of a democracy.

But if the reason they lost seats were down to tactical voting against Conservatives and it's now looking increasingly more likely that the Lib-Dem's are going to jump into bed with them, surely all that would do is drive out their support in the next election?

Hold on to your hat... Gordon Browns announced his resignation. Maybe the only way a Labour/Lib dem deal could be struck?

hopefully. he finally got the hint that people think he's a complete buffoon. saying that - the next leader will be another unelected leader, and if they get in power again another unelected PM! christ!

Never really understood why people have got so bent out of shape over this- Our system of government is a parliamentary system where you place your vote for the party, not the man who happens to be head of the party. The guy who's in charge is the one that takes all of the stick, but in reality decisions are made by the pm, the cabinet and the leading party as a whole, not just the pm- Why is it such a big issue if the leader changes? Your vote is not a vote for him to run the country, it's a vote for that party to run the country

The next leader is going to be a new shoe, going to make middle east politics interesting as he won't be allowed in the arab states.

what scintillating insight into the unfolding situation

I take it you'll be throwing your hat in the ring for the upcoming leadership elections? With a political mind like that you'll be one of the front runners

Well on the plus side he managed to get rid of a 30 point opinion poll lead in 6 months- imagine what he will do in a year or so of government

To be honest, you've had a center-right party in power for the last thirteen years. Only thing that has changed over the last week has been the colour and the name.

    I don't see the problem?

can people really tell me why they're so anti-conservative? i can't understand it, especially as most people who seem to be so are even younger than me?

98% of my family worked on the dockyards in the 80's/early 90's. they all lost their jobs.
