The General Election. Are we doomed?

Who's everyone voting for then? it's starting to loom ever closer - and gordon brown doesent seem to be getting any popular. but i can imagine that another conservative goverment is on it's way, and i feel this isnt going to be the best thing for our country either.

I havent got a clue who i'm going to vote for, might just go labour just to try and keep them out.

Never voted, and probably never win. I'm heavily political and keep on top of geo politics and come to my own conclusions that its a massive waste of time (personally).

Its just a case of pass the parcel about who gets fucked more everytime we switch political parties (the lower, working and middle classes), although as time goes by its hard to work out exactly what party stands for what.

One thing is for sure, the rich always get richer, and the state ends up with more and more control over everyones lives.

I wouldnt mind seeing Brown get royally fucked at an 'election' mind. He even makes Tony Blair the war criminal look good.

The presidential nature of voting now means we're more like America than ever before. The emphasis on the face of a party rather than on policy means that Brown doesn't stand a chance.

The Labour party should have brought in Milliband as leader and refreshed the image when the Tories did.

I dont pretend to know a lot about either party like. But i do know Labour are turning us into a beaurocratic police state with a completely backwards justice system, and seem, completely incapable of doing something right. And the Tories will just make sure the rich get richer and the poorer get poorer. Ill not be voting for either to be honest. The Lib Dem's seem the lesser of three evils however.

You are so wrong Brid my friend ;)

A university student, who refused to give her name, said: “I think Blair is a hero. Not just because what he did for Iraq, for liberation from the dictator. But also because he was prepared to take a risk for the Arab people, to help us. He followed his beliefs and that is not something many politicians do — not in Iraq now and maybe not in Britain either.”

(Oops pete, hit edit on your post by accident - didnt change anything)

Even if you took what she says as a valid standpoint, the man LIED to his party, the country, and the world in order to achieve this.

I like the IDEA of democracy, and telling lies to remove leaders, and breaking laws/rules in order to do this (invading other countries) is totally out of order in my opinion. Those countries have been set back 20-30 years now while we 'install' democracy (corrupt politicians) there.

But i will say i support the troops, as cheesy as that sounds, because those are the people who risk their lives every second of every day to achieve this all - I find it hard to believe Tony Blair is a man of virtue as he swans around the world making speeches for 100 grand.

I thought labour was 'for the people' ... i dunno how that is!

No matter how watered down Labours principles have become, they are still a better option than having that horrible sleazy tory prick running the country with his cabinet over overpriviledged public schoolboys.

Lesser of two evils I would say. Unfortunately its unlikely to happen- any government of any party in this country has a limited shelf life before being buried under an avalanche of partisan news coverage and the current incarnation of Labour is reaching the end of this

I honestly can't see how anyone thinks that David Cameron would make a good pm. His pmq's performances are proper cringeworthy, full of bland statements and cliches and very little substance
