The Erol Alkan Bandwagon Thoughts on this? It's very real. Now is it cos hes cool (partly, imo), or solely down to the fact hes fucking awesome? His set at Digital last week was easily one of the best i've ever seen...and I plan on going to Manchester for a warehouse party next month where he happens to be playing. Perhaps I should jump on, and order a tshirt before the gig.
Your about 2/3 years to late... I seen this bandwagon hoying handbreak turns round the toon a long time ago.
Really! Lol well i'd heard him mentioned alot but just by the more picky of board members and wasn't he usually in the back rooms of places and stuff? Still if it was there then then it's certainly got more presence now, people who don't even like dance music love him and have an erol tshirt
He is much better playing a slightly smaller room I reckon. Seen him about 7 times now, by far and away the best was Chibuku in March
I think the only reason anyonee's banging on about him is because he's just rinsed wax on. Not really a bandwagon as such.
Theres about 15 or so, the Bugged Out ones are particularly mint. They go back to 2002! If you have itunes: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=108401429 If you have bother with that go to http://www.erolalkan.co.uk/ and then to the listen section.
ah but it's not confined to Newcastle though, students in Leeds love him (as he rinsed waxn there aswell...) But still. Bring him back!!
His best mix by far was the One Louder cd that was slapped on the front of Muzik 5 years ago.. The tee 'episode' has seen him turn into the music industries latest apostate, there's much better down here than Erol..
agreed completely, alkan is the daddy! the only other person ive seen live who can fuck a track up live like alkan and still make it sound good is zabiela. anyone heard the mix he done at oxegen festival this year? its fucking immense! sampling his own remix of tiga and working it into rage against the machine is just pure genius
