    The Country That legalised Drugs

In 2001 Portugal legalised The Purchase, Ownership and Taking Of any type of illegal drug.

Oh no cried the mass's... the country will become a haven for drug taking and drug tourism when in fact....drug use has since dropped, Drug Deaths have falled and consumtion has dropped by 10%

Proof legalisation works? cetainly looks like it

I for one (as Rossy was ever so keen to point out) am totally against decriminilisation. People harp on and on about government restrictions but do you actually think that the government would just make everything legal, just step aside from the matter and let us get on with it? How do you stop minors getting ahold of shit like heroin? Do you not think everything will end up getting taxed?

Just because something has worked short-term in a country with a population around 1/6 the size of ours, doesn't mean it's the perfect solution.

I could give plenty more reasons but I'm not going to sit and write an essay on this because the argument must have been had a million times over...

And before anyone says I'm being biased, I love getting completely off my lips and do so regularly.

Regulation, why would it be any easier than it is now?

No the government wouldn't, but I'm against them anyway. I don't care about tax, I care about rights.

What do you mean by a minor? 14 or 15? If a kid that age went up to a heroin dealer do you think he'd have more chance scoring than he would if he went to a counter with an age restriction of 21? Its an interesting point but in reality any govenment shouldnt be seen to allow the use of destructive drugs like heroin or crack. Stuff like pills, coke etc arent even in the same league and are readily available to anyone at almost any age so what would the difference be?
