The Big Speakeasy @ Secco Bar - Friday 16th October just a heads-up that i'm playing down here this friday with tommy rocksteady (bloc party). nice new bar, inbetween popolo and alvino's. free entry, decent drinks prices, etc: speakeasy (n.) “A speakeasy was an establishment that was used for selling and drinking alcoholic beverages during the period of United States history known as Prohibition. There are no signs on the door to indicate that inside lies a bar and restaurant. There is even a secret back door leading out to a passageway on to the street so that customers could make a quick exit when the police called.” ----------------------------------------------------- Every Friday Secco Bar opens its doors and welcomes you to join us for a hidden speakeasy in the heart of Newcastle’s most up and coming area. bit of a change of plan to this, but secco won't be opening tonight, so the big speakeasy will now be on tomorrow (saturday 17th), which means it will provide a perfect pre-club watering hole for anyone heading to crispy, dada or rimini... x
i'm essentially conversing with myself here now, but anybody who doesn't know where secco is, it's inbetween popolo and alvino's opposite the old fire station/ same door as the secco restaurant (there'll be door staff/flyerers outside anyway - can't miss it)
good venue, two bars, one for cocktails/one for pints = not having to wait ages for a pint whilst somebody in front of you gets a cocktail
