I fucked my telly with an unfortunate nintendo wii incident, the insurance have sent me a voucher for 600 quid for a replacement which I can use at PC world and dixons.Narrowed it down to these two

This is the closest one to the one I fucked and I had not bother with it but its not full HD

I spotted this second one is 1080p for the same price but dont really know much about the technical specs so was wanting a opinion of someone who does

Toshiba looks good and has all the connections you'd need for what you have including a sky HD upgrade.

I've got a 32" Regza and love it. Got it last year around August time i think and haven't had a single problem with it.

Thing that does strike me though is the PC input as the input on mine is via HDMI though and it's via HDMI 1, not sure if that means it has 4 HDMI ports 1 specific for PC or it has 3 ports and 1 of them is specific for the PC (With mine there is an input for analogue audio when a pc is connected for HDMI1)

Even still, with just a PS3 and Sky HD you'd only need 2 HDMI ports but if you wouldn't be plugging a PC then you'd have a spare port anyway and wouldn't need to go down the HDMI Switch route i've had too.

Just had a browse also, if your not too bothered about it being 1080p then i'd go for this LG plasma over the Sammy.

The LG outputs Dolby Digital as opposed to the Sammy's Trusound. Of course this wouldn't matter if you have a surround sound.

But out of the 3 and having owned the tv i own now if i was to upgrade and with £600 i'd choose the Toshiba, just wish i had a spare couple of grand for a Pioneer Kuro though :(

i've got almost the same Samsung TV, 42" plasma and mine has 2 HDMI inputs and it's only 1080i - i don't plan on having a bluray player yet and HD via sat/cable is only 1080i anyway

i've had it nearly a year with no problems and there's 1 at work thats been used almost constantly for 2 years thats still going strong. plasmas don't half give off heat! my only issue is the sound didn't blow me away like the rest of the telly and my old tv was an LG (CRT) - go get a demo of the sound, see which sounds good.

    LG's / Samsungs - both pretty good

On your toshiba does there ever seem to be a sort of lag when watching football, like when a long fast pass is made the ball just doesnt look right???Ive found this the only problem with my samsung.Happens on all channels aswell not just setanta.

Im unlikely to connect my pc to the tv anyway but whats the wire like you have to use?As I dont have a hdmi output on my pc

    Cheers

Are plasmas supposed to be better than LCD?Just because plasmas seem more expensive for smaller specs

DVI > HDMI cable - doesn't carry audio though.

there's no real difference between plasma/LCD - you can get screen burn on plasmas but they can produce better shades (especially black) - LCD's are backlit so u can get 'colour leak'

I have to go DVI to HDMI from PC to TV as i dont have HDMI out on my PC then go to surround sound for sound. Could go direct to TV though if i wanted with a normal stereo 3.5mm lead

As for lag with footy nah, ive had no problems with mine. Had a slight lip sync issue with Sky HD but just put a delay on Sky HD and that was sorted.

Mines only 1080i but the picture quality is class specially for my room. I would like a larger screen mind but i don't need it im just greedy.

    both very similar

    its down to personal preference

why not take a dvd of a football game in and ask for a demo with both tvs. footy is a excellent test for lcds

We were looking at a Sharp one before we went for the LG, They both had cricket playing on them in hd at the time and the LG looked far better, it was £40 more but well worth it imo.

The toshibas definitely sounding appealing but I'll do what you said pike and ask for a demo of sport on them both.I use tversity to stream through my ps3 for films and stuff and dont see any other reason I would connect the pc to the tv so that not an issue really
