    Televisions

Right whats all the shit i need to be aware of when im looking for a new TV? I want one thats 40/42+" that doesnt cost £23,000,000.

What is the difference between LCD and plasma?

What is the difference between 720p and 1080i?

My (ginger) mate reckons that p is better than i, but he likes winding me up and i think he just doesnt want me to have a gangster tv.

Chandler your reply will not be acknowledged unless you show some aggression.

LCD is the better choise, it gives SLIGHTY better colour resolution, and a more TRUE black, however, you get a little more 'leakage' per pixel as it's lit from behind. there's not much in the difference, some say plasmas are better for clarity (like the difference between CRT and LCD m onitors) it's down to preference.

make sure u get the PROPER resolution , and not just 'HD compatible' - 1900 somefink.

Check the price on the wall bracket. buy ALL cables you will EVER need (i.e. expensive HDMi cables) so u only have to chisel out the wall once.

I'll lose fingers if i go anywhere near a chisel, think ill just wallpaper over the wires.

I was reading today that the PS3 is gonna be 1080p, but all the tvs that have that are more expensive, which is nice.

1080i is interlaced - not TRUE 1080 progessive - just depends whether or not in a few years u wish you'd got the better telly.......

apparently, fast action in 1080i can sometimes look a little odd/blurred - this is from Laz with Sky Sports HD when he watches the Premiership in HD and other sources

id settle for a 1080i but only cos same spec 1080p ones are quite rare and more expensive,

i also wouldnt waste me pennies on owt other than 1900 h resolution.

Xbox360 has been updated to 1080p now as well. If you can afford one that does that, it's def a better choice as Blu-ray movies will be 1080p too

Toshiba do a 42" one with full resolution and 1080p for under £1200 which is a bargain

tbf though theres only a few screen out at the momnet with 1080p and there will be alot bigger than your pc screen so the picture probably won't look and better, infact it will probably look worst.

I nearly bought that one as I'd seen a review that said it was 1080p but apparentl it's not, I read on a frum that the user manual says 1080i only.

The difference between that isn't really worth the money if you ask me.

I've just got a Samsung 26" for £455 using currys promotional codes and saved £215. DVD's and my xbox both look fucking class.

thats the thing though, unless you have a tv right next to yours which is playing the better resolution you would never know its better.

So the question would be is it worth spending the money on something you will never actually notice?

The best on the market is the kdl32v2000u.
Can pick it up for ~£1100 with a 5 year gurantee..

It is univeraslly recognised as the best.. but costs more than the competition..

If the tosh is 1080p then its a bargain and should be snapped up..

P is the way to go like..
