Techno I despise all techno but going through some old cd's I stumbled on to dj umek - gatex what other techno sounds like this, cos I quite likes it.

lol I listened to many a sven set... n hated it... I've been to cocoon n hated... I listen to gatex n loved it... wanna know if theres any more tunes or dj's that play that style (consistantly - not 1 decent tune and 70 minutes of ear ache) gunna try n listen to an umek set... never heard another techno tune like gatex...
thing is joe, it will all depend on what type of set you listen to by Umek, cos he plays and produces a vast range of tech influenced music.
the verion of gatex (dunno if its rmx or not) doesn't even have a beat.... I find picotto/liebing/clarke/vath/hawtin/.... painful to listen to unlike hard house and hard trance, they're just a hard horrible gravely noise... that gatex tune was different - was sinsister reminded me of hard acid trance (lab 4 could drop it in a set easily)
well joe, im not sure you will like any other of his productions, cos to be truthful, gatex is the only one he has produced that really does sound different to anything else he has done, very experimental in my eyes, and i suppose thats why it has attracted a lot of attention. It could be defined as a techno track, or even a tech trance track, but it has appealed to more trance djs than techno djs. His other stuff is a lot more tech house and harder techno.
