Technics vs Vestax (Yes Again) I dont know which to buy or maybe even the new Numark ones. Is the best option to go somewhere and have a play about with all 3 and see which one i like best. Are they all about the same so its just personal preference or is one of them an outright winner? Help please
You know this threads going to go on forever. Go to global dj, have a go of all 3, make your own mind up, buy them
This is always going to be an argument, the best thing to do is go out and try them, buy whatever you feel most comfortable with. I personally love Technics, Mk2s (Mk3s are too gimmicky). A lot of people however, prefer the PDX2000. The TTX1 though, I haven't heard much good about. I've neverused it myself, but a good mate of mine (trance_fan on here) was one of the first DJs in the UK to use 'em, when he played @ Sapphires' open day last year, when they had the prototypes in. I'd say Chris would be the best person to ask this question actually, as he also owns PDX2000s and uses 1210s all the time. Oh, and if you;re buying, I;d try and point you out of the direction of Global DJ and in the direction of Sapphires. Much better prices (www.sapphires.co.uk)
I use PDX2000 but also use my m8's 1210's alot. They are both good dex and both have their good qualities. I'd say just go and try them both and see what your more comfortable with.
Wow i never thought of it like that Allie, but thats true lol! I could go on forever with the TTX1, which i wont, but i will say this: on first impression, i thought, bloody hell, they look awesome, but as i found...looks can be decieving! numark has been boasting of its "3.7kg/cm torque"...well, theres not a chance that thats running torque...cos theres no way that the ttx1 is almost twice as powerful as the vestax pdx2000 when its up and running, it didnt even seem all that much more powerful really, and slowed down/sped up easier when gripping the spindle. also, my doubts about being able to shift buttons and such like around were made greater when one of the panels had to be taken off the buttons which selected speed, quartz lock etc. because each time i selected 45rpm, it would go back to 33 because the button was getting stuck, and thats on a brand new deck!! i found them to be a bit gimicky to be honest, half of the stuff on the deck u just dont need....(innaccurate) bpm counter, +/- 50% pitch etc. however, they were nice decks to use, seem very solidly built and very stable, so any one who has them, i dont doubt your descision to buy them, as im fairly sure you wont be regretting it...it took me a couple of mixes to get used to them more....and the odd time i managed to let it go a little bit dodgy, but once i got used to them (and the blazing heat of the sun through the tent) they were cool to use!! but......worth the money they cost for a pair at the moment? i dont think so no. altho all decks of this spec usually cost that much when they come out, there are better alternatives in my opinion. theres no way that that i can see that they are going to be replacing technics, so technics (and vestax) fans....neednt fear just yet! i think i have such a view as my expectations of these decks just have not been met, there was an unbelievable amount of hype which i just dont think they fully deserve!! As for the old Tecnics Vs Vestax sausage, its not going to end! Its purely down to personal preference, but if you see yourself as a club dj then get technics, every1 has them, and means you only really need to get fully used to one deck! I love my PDX2000s though, going to get a second hand 1210 though just so i can have the best of both worlds.
well ive used both and id say technics. although the vestax are not a bad deck at all. PDX2000's are the vestax to get tho. if ya cant get these get technics. they have this sweet little button which adjusts the speed of the brake and start of the deck. so it can start instantly and stop instantly or very slowly and build its way up. i think thats sweet.
You can do that with the 1210 too, it just takes a bit of fannying about and taking a platter off. Um, looking @ Vestax, you could possibly consider a 2nd hand pair of D3s. Maybe a bit of a stupid option mind, as they've been discontinued, but they're a hell of a deck. Bit hard to get hold of second hand too, as once you have em, you wont wanna sell em!
I would buy Vestax PDX2000's anyday now after going on them and after going on mates 1210's 1200's - i aint no DJ as yet but i find it better to beat match on the Vestax than i have on any other deck - i know that im never gonna be a DJ and i dont really wanna be as its just a hobbie so it dont bother me that most clubs have Technics ! I think the Vestax look better the the Technics 1200 are well smart, and as for the Vestax mixers Unreal........
Exactly my point: This is always down to peoples' personal opinions. I HATE the look of the PDX2000, think it looks far too gimmicky and shit, like something you'd find in Toys R Us. Vestax mixers are alright. They make a lot of good 'Middle-Market' mixers, with theur only real installation/club competitors being the PMC55 and possibly the R1. I presonally prefer the DJM600 to anything in it's price range up to about £1500. The Rane MP 2016 (with the XP 2016) is my dream mixer though, topping a mental £2100 for the lot (MoS installed one pretty recently) Allen & Heath Xone:V6 is one fucking hell of a mixer too, but at £3700, I think I'll wait a few years before investing!
My "own opinion" is that theres no point in having a DJM 600 for ya bedroom unless ya playing to hundreds week in week out coz ya four walls or whatever in ya room is hardly gonna be impressed is it
