Technics v's Vestax v's Numark Technics Unquestionably the most popular turntable on the market.... However being the most popular product does not make it the better product... A little delve into the 1200's past is a big eye opener, unlike its rivals - the Technic's were originally launched as a kareokee machine, the pitch was used so the rat arsed kareokee queen could sing in key This is all fine and well if they'd updated the turntable when the dj'ing phenomeon kicked in, but in traditional technics fashion they neglected the DJ market and untill the release of the mkIII's the technics were still 1/2 a pitch out (which meant the DJ is at times left fiddling for the right pitch)... The deck has been virtually untouched since its launch 30 years ago... "You can't better perfection" is the standard response, but Vestax and Numark would certainly appear to contradict this statement Vestax My turntable of choice Unlike previous rivals Vestax decided mimmicing the market standard wasn't enough, they completely revolutionised the way companies make decks... 2000's Direct drive, high torque motor ASTS tone arm system Adjustable brake and start up time Reverse mode Quartz lock ±10% pitch fader ±50% pitch adjust Replaceable cue lamp and audio leads The features list doesn't look like much but it has completely changed how manufacturs make turntables, the pitch allows DJ's to mix records much harder/slower than they were intended to be played (great for hard house, hard trance or gabba type dj's)... I know many dj's who have had their 1210's tweaked in an effort to squeze an extra 4% out of them. But they didn't stop there the PDX D3s also have a digital pitch display so u can see an accurate pitch read out of what speed the record is playing at, it is also a much more accurate pitch than the 1210's. The tone arm and motor are amazing, unlike technics the record never skips, you can cue up, scratch, play samples much more effectivly than you can on the now dated technics. Numark The new TT-X1 is the ultimate in gadgets... rather than explain it all I'm just going to put up a features list Straight or "S" shaped tone arm Highest torque motor on the market Digital display for pitch (ripped off Vestax) and BPM Variable pitch fader range 8 / 10 / 20 / 50 % (ripped off Vestax) Quartz lock (ripped off Vestax) Key control (line and digital output only) SPDIF Digital output Line or Phono level output Replaceable / repositionable pitch fader and control buttons 33 / 45 / 78 rpm reverse mode (ripped off Vestax) Adjustable start and stop 2 start / stop buttons Undoubtly a great deck and considered by many as a far better turntable than the 1210... I've yet to use it so can't really comment. Summary Theres nothing wrong with Technics infact their fantastic - but their rivals are slowely leaving them on their arses... while others inovate the Technics sits still, stuck with 30 year old technology... its like racing a 30 yr old VW Beetle against a brand new one.... Technology moves on - sadly Technics don't
Its a far more accurate pitch... its even easier when u get used 2 mine 2 cos unlike the 2000's they tell u what pitch ur at to 1 decimal place... so you know exactly where you've been amd often how much to increment by
yep.. a lot easier to find the pitch.. plus they have a lot more torque.. which is nice. but technics look the bollox... the red led and grey deck is a bit off-putting for sum peeps i guess..plus because theyve been around for donkeys.. peopple want to go and trust the technics brand
i think vestax are good and technics, but why not have technics in the house if ur good at it n get a shot at playing out they'll obviously have technics, so why not have them so ur familliar 2 the set up in pubs/clubs
What?!!?!?!? The Vestax (both pdx d3s and 2000's) and Numark TT-X1's are far more attractive decks... the 1210 looks like a 70's hi-fi stack deck!!!! (and before anyone starts about vestax being plastic its re-enforced ABS plastic - just as strong as 1210's....)
personally i like the technics.....but the vestax are okay. I think dmd's are much easier to use than yours smartie. Yours are shit. I also think the technics look much better too. The vestax look tacky somehow. Charvers loved em when they first came out cos of their looks but within weeks they all came running back to swap em for technics cos they couldnt use the vestax. And this came from a guy who worked in a dj shop. not sure which one tho but its in newcastle.
Charvas can't afford Vestax... £899 for the pdx d3s... where can charvas get that sorta money? someones been telling you porkies
FIRSTLY I WANA SAY THANX 2 EV1 WHO CAME 2 R HOUSE PARTY ON SAT. EVENTHO I REMEMBER SWEET F A :spangled: :spangled: I HEARD IT WAS GOOD SO WE'RE HAVIN ANOTHA SOMETIME B4 THE 20TH DEC SECONDLY I HONESTLY HAVE TO SAY THAT BOTH 1210'S AND 1200'S ARE NO MATCH FOR PDX 2000'S. IVE MANAGED TO CONVERT MY FLATMATES FROM TECHNICS TO VESTAX 2 THEY'RE SO MUCH MORE POWERFUL AND ITS A LOT EASIER TO PITCH UP FIRST TIME. PLUS SMARTIE COULD GO PRANCIN ROUND THE ROOM IN HIS SPICE GIRL SHOES N THEY WOULDN'T SKIP (UNLIKE TECHNICS) BUT I SUPPOSE IT TAKES A WHILE TO GET USED TO EITHER. p.s. I GOT UR ARMIN CDS SPARKIE. £50 IN UNMARKED £10 NOTES SHOULD SEE THEM GET A SAFE RETURN p.p.s BIG DAVE, IT WAS EDDIES TUNE OF THE YEAR AS WELL AS SARA COX'S TUNE OF THE WEEK
