Starting torque: 1.5 kg-cm (1.3 lb-in) apparently for the MK2's... dunno if the later models are different.

    yep 1.5 on all 1210 1200 models

not that it makes too much difference as this can easily be fixed because starting torque means nothing sustained torque is far more important, also platter weight and therefore momentum also has a big effect on how 'strong' the motor feels. For example the denon decks that were discontinued a while ago were rated at 2.2kg which would make them a more powerful motor than vestax pdx2000 (2.0) and far more powerful than technics (1.5) but anyone who has ever tried one will tell you this is total crap and the motor isn't as powerful as the techs never mind the vestax.

You can feel the diference in the torque between Vestax and technics. Vestax feels like they're taking your arm away with you sometimes:)

Rumour has it if ya own Technics and play on Vestax when out and about there is no problem but when people who own Vestax play on Technics (ie mates houses and that) then they struggle !

I have seen proof of this too - i know a few people that have struggled on the Technics when they own PDX 2000's !

I am happy with my 1200's as they were cheap ish but i always did say that if i had the chance i would of bought Vestax !

I just need to learn to DJ properly now :(

You are right Geordie, when I first played on Technics I found them a bit more difficult to use than my PDX2000's, It only takes a few mixes to get used to Technics though and if you play on them regular(which i do) you are fine on the Technics.
I have days when I think that I want to sell my Vestax and get technics, but I aint done it yet.:)

Like I was saying, its an on-off decision, I probably wont sell my Vestax but I may get a 2xPDX200 and 2xSL1210 setup, then i can do as I please, the sound quality is definatly better on the Vestax though. :)
