The Football Association has confirmed that Sven Goran Eriksson will leave his post as England coach after the World Cup finals.

Talks have been ongoing over Eriksson's future following recent newspaper allegations, which have led to question marks being raised over the Swede's future.

Eriksson's advisor Athole Still, accompanied his client, to Soho Square to meet with the FA's chief executive and the association compliance unit to discuss the implications of the recent newspaper sting - which saw the England supremo make a number of disturbing comments.

Now following further talks on Monday evening - a deal has been agreed with Eriksson to leave after this summer's tournament in Germany, no matter what the outcome is.

Previously Eriksson stated that he would remain after the World Cup, given that he still has a contract until 2008 - but now it is confirmed that England will have new coach in place for the start of their Euro 2008 qualifiers later this year

He was bound to leave after the world cup anyway.

Can't really see who'll replace him tho.

how fake do mclaren's gnashers look in that photo

I'm well pissed off at the tabloids for this... I know that sven should have kept his mouth shut, but at the same time they deliberately went out to get him and cause trouble.

We've had the best record under sven (certainly better than any other recent manager) and I can't help but feel what has happened is a sign of bad things to come.

The english press is probably the worst enemy of every england coach... when they first sign up the media love him, as soon as they lose or draws a game (or even just win unconvincingly) they're hounding them out the door...

    Disgusting

someone has to take the cunt off us, he's doing shitter than souness and hios jobs not even at danger!

i dont like allardyce for england, he is clever and motivational but he plays a kick and run style that suits english football, its a step back 10 years imo... thats why mcclaren is near the top because he is a clone of sven and plays continental football, albeit far too defensive at boro.

im not too sure who id want, pearce in a few years might be the man but its too soon for him after the WC, curbishley allardyce mcclaren all might be able to do it but i could see them becoming new turnips too.

Personally i dont think the next England manager needs to be English aslong as they show passion, I dont want Allardyce and think Pearce isnt experienced enough yet.

Someone mentioned the name Phil Scloari as next England manager......would be interesting having him as manager, led Portugal to the final of Euro 2004 and won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002.

Hes proved he can work with the biggest players in the world and i like the idea of England playing football the Brazillian way

Yeah anyone that will bollock em from the side lines and let rip when they need pushing!!!

Rather than a swede sat in a suit whose emotion enlarges to a simple shrug or shake of the head when they concede! :fuming:

    I liked venables............
