    Sunderland track Toon Target

Sunderland are tracking Newcastle target Morten Gamst Pedersen.

And the in-demand Tromso winger has been told by Norway coach Aage Hareide to take the Black Cats seriously.

Left-winger Pedersen has been watched by a host of Premiership scouts in recent weeks, including representatives from United, Aston Villa and Blackburn.

But Hareide has revealed he has personally recommended the player to Sunderland boss Mick McCarthy, and he believes Pedersen would do well to aim a division lower, to guarantee more first-team football.

The 22-year-old did make his fourth appearance for Norway on Thursday, in a goalless draw against Wales in Oslo - and Hareide believes McCarthy was planning a personal visit to watch the player in action.

"Morten has asked me to give him some advice as to where he should go to take his next step," said Hareide.

"I have told him to make sure that he will get to play games for the club he chooses.

"Mick McCarthy called me this week to see if Pedersen was going to play in the Wales match - he wanted to know whether or not it was worth him travelling to Norway to watch the player."

    Sunderland eye Bridges

Newcastle reject Michael Bridges could find himself back in the North East next season - with derby rivals Sunderland.

The Leeds star failed to impress on a six-month loan spell with the Magpies last season and, although he is waiting to hear officially, he is not expecting to get a dream move to Tyneside.

However, relegated Leeds are still keen to get the 25-year-old off their wage bill and are keen for the player to accept one of several offers on the table.

We had Bridges on loan & he wasnt up to it, but I am sure if SAFC sign him he will do a good job at that level. As for Arca he will be good back up to Bernard & Robert. Isnt he your best player
