    Sunderland after Caldwell

I think Sunderland would be better short-term brining Steve Howey home, Howey was transfer listed by Leicester last night.

    Caldwell story:

Sunderland boss Mick McCarthy has vowed to not give up in his bid to sign Newcastle defender Steve Caldwell.

But McCarthy will try again for a player he admires greatly and has been pursuing since the start of last summer.

And the Sunderland chief is willing to wait until the summer to get his man if necessary, with Caldwell out of contract and available for nothing at the end of this season.

"I have been looking at Steve Caldwell," confirmed McCarthy. "I have watched him in the reserves loads of times.

"He is somebody I admire. I think he is a very good player. I know he is out of contract at the end of the season and I will continue to watch him. so we'll see what happens.

"I make enquiries to managers all the time, but what I will say about Steve is that he fits into a certain structure, especially age-wise."

Shows ya how desperate they are, buying our defenders.

Theyv probably been ripped apart more than any other in the premiership by comentators and stuff.
