SUBSTANCE this Friday (the 29th) At Camp David, FREE ENTRY all night long 8pm-3am This week (Friday the 29th) at Substance we’ve got two great guests lined-up for you to grace the Camp David Dj booth, a pair of real technical masters Jamie Alexander and Burnsy. The party kicks off as usual with yours truly on warm-up duties at 8pm before Jamie comes on at 10pm then Gary will bridge the gap after Jamie from half 11 till Burnsy comes on at 12:30am. It’s absolutely free to get in all night from 8pm till last entry at 2am (the party goes on till 3am). Jamie Alexander Jamie Alexander is long time friend of mine we both got into Jungle/Drum and Bass about 15 years ago and from that early age Jamie’s technical ability as a dj was apparent. No formulaic dancefloor fillers from Jamie, he was always mixing up the really complex beat patterns from the likes of Photek and Source Direct like it was the easiest thing in the world. Jamie switched over to playing house in the late nineties when we got into people like Daft Punk, Stacey Pullen, Derrick Carter, Dj Sneak and Mark Farina but he took with him the technical attention to detail he’d cultivated before and applied it to the house genre. Since then Jamie has played all over the shop and wowed crowds whenever he plays. I’m really looking forward to him bringing his trademark bumpy deep house sound to Substance this week. Jamie Alexander, Substance taster chart 1. Groove Source - Dub a Blast (1200 Warriors Remix) 2. Forrest Avery / Eric Andrew - Split Open Jack 3. Brett Johnson - Two Cents (Massi DL 100 Resamplings Remix) 4. D T3CH - House 4 Kicks (Toka Project Dub) 5. 1200 Warriors - Loose Control feat Wu Tang Clan (1200 Main Mix) 6. Stacy Kidd - Jazzy Dayz (Original Mix) Burnsy In much the same way as Jamie Burnsy is notorious for his fine attention to detail; he’ll pick out subtle changes in tracks and use them to blend tunes together seamlessly. It’s this great technical ability that has earned him a great deal of respect and gigs around the region playing at nights such as the Legendary Resistance , Crispy and Satellite but also nationwide warming up for the likes of Technasia in Liverpool. Burnsy is a great house and techno dj and I’m delighted he’s coming to play for us this Friday. Here’s a mix from the big guy to give you an idea of what he’s about: Burnsy - Substance Friday May 29th teaser [ame="http://www.zshare.net/audio/605362121e38c5d6/"]zSHARE - File Not Found[/ame] I’ve put together a chart of some of my new favourite new bits and bobs for you to have a look at/listen to here: Stu Hedley - Substance end of May Chart http://www.junodownload.com/charts/dj/13086-Stu_Hedley/274344-Chart/ Hope to see you Friday for another cracking free party!
