    Stupid bloody router!

    Just as everything was sorted!!

My router is dropping the connection to the internet every so often - not a fixed amount of time though, just intermittently, but a few times a day.

    It's getting very wearing!!

Any ideas why it would be happening?

What kind of router is it mate?

I've had two routers before and the only one I've known to drop the line on a regular basis is my belkin one. Not sure why but it seemed to do it over the same time period as yours.

ITs a Netgear DG834GT, with the latest firmware upgrade.

Its the wired WAN connection (ADSL, straight to the phone line) it's losing, not the WLAN connection

Can't see why someone would want to try and hack in several times a day....

    Gona do a factory restore

If it still happens, i'll have to call Netgear :(

The thing is, when the line drops, it reconnects, but I have to manually disconnect and then reconnect again to get back online :(

You would think for an RRP of £129.99 (thank god for Dabs!!) it would actually do it's fundementally crucial job properly

Yeah...it's only started since I got an upgrade to 2mb!

I've reset the router to factory settings anyway, so will see what happens.

If it keeps happening i'll give BT a call!

Same happened to my dad at home chris, BT were even stupid enuff to install broadband in the house and then later found out it wasnt even available in our area because we were too far away from the exchange. :dunce:

If anyone is trying to hack you chris, step up your security to WPA, enable MAC filtering for your machine and disable SSID broadcast.
