Hes always been well thought of among the Sunderland fans in the past. Even during the 15 min long chants of "youre just a fat geordie bastard" during recent games v Wigan, you could always detect a sense of respect towards him... Cant say I am exactly blown away by the appointment like, though hes a solid (though soft around the edges) premiership manager who should hopefully see us comfortably clear of the bottom 3 next year if he can get the side playing as a team and spend some of Short's coin wisely.
