Stealth / Affinity just been reading the digital thread... i noticed that this venue has been mentioned a few times... basically: Midweek = STEALTH = Student / Underground Music I'm not sure what else is on at this venue but I will be running UK HipHop/Dub/Reggae/DnB nights last thursday of every month with live acts, djs, and mcs... DEFINATELY NOT just NUS. I know there is a monthly dubstep night on a thursday. i think theres a monthly techno night as well, i think tuesdays are a gay night, wednesdays are student nights... (dont quote me though!!!) Friday and Saturday = AFFINITY... ikon/boat style tunes...Live PAs etc etc, QFX, Ultrabeat style "Clubland" music... bit of fun The venue itself has a new soundsystem, new lighting rig, full paint job, new dj booth, stage, and looks a million times better than it did as the pig and whistle... Hopefully it might slightly improve the state of the bigg market, which will always be a nightmare until the demise of "popworld" - the stupidest bar on the planet. I'd advise you to visit the place before passing judgement... (last thursday of the month if you can - haha)
Not sure what you mean about improve the Bigg Market. If the club has that Essential night on it os going to get the crap in the Bigg Market, when previously Essential was taking the crap out of the Bigg Market by being at Ikon & The Boat. It will bring back the scum that used rock in the ghastly Cage bar. The club itself has a slight touch of Play2 (San Antionio, Spain) about it. The lights are fab & the sound system booming, DJ box is the place I said it should of been in years ago, bar location doesn't make people walk/queue in the same place as people are dancing. It may last as a club for while but in the end I think it will become one of them late free dance bars that were meant to kill clubs off about 5 years ago. Now I have had my deek in, I doubt I will be going back.
yeah man, its a nice little venue, and i think for the size of it, midweek (or even fridays) it could be used by independant promoters to bring quality DJs to that area... and if you use the cloth market entrance it keeps it kinda seperate from liquid and yel and flares etc...
If some promoters could look past the location & the bars previous life. It could be a rocking midweek venue. The layout is geared up for people dancing. Your right if the door that faces Kiss is shut & the other used it will help filter crap. Hope your night works out pal
its like willy wonkers chocolate factory meets hixxy, on acid, with a twist of buzzcocks and a bucket of puke.
HAHA. SO THATS WHERE STEALTH IS. I CANT BELIEVE THAT SOMEONE HAD THE INCENTIVE TO TRY AND TURN THE PIG AND WHISTLE AROUND. GOOD ON THEM I GUESS. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR NIGHT AEMS. MR KUHNT MAYBE IN ATTENDANCE.
i always bypass the bigg market - it's got the appeal of leprosy stricken smack head with aids. avoid at all costs. then again, it might do it some good for the place, ever since ikon and the boat went under, the displaced chav population has spread about.
had my night last night, great club, love the layout, drinks were really reasonable, subs underneath the dj booth need isolating, and maybe some more bass towards the back of the club, but all in all a great little venue... lets hope more underground promoters get on this because for the size, its an excellent little venue, the lighting rig is wicked... and could add so much to newcastle... so all you techno / breakbeat / bassline / acid / psy trance / etc etc etc promoters - GET ON THIS
