Not being funny or owt but the fact that your on this board asking stuff like this means your clearly in no position to start up your own night...my advice is make up some cd's and take them to other peoples nights and get some experience of nights from behind the scene's first. Dont join the bandwagon of people who think its easy to put their own night on, when it is not. It's not rocket science but fact of the matter is that you might put 1 night on when your friends will come along and then after that you'll spend your time playing to yourselves. Which the people who own/run the pubs wont like and will end up ending your night anyway. You didnt learn to walk before you could crawl and the harsh reality of it is that if you've only ever played to yourselves in your bedrooms you've not had any proper feedback from the 'bigger' wigs

    Get some experience

i know. the reality is a harsh one.

might be a bit pointless starting a trance night these days with the likes of god's and crasher steamrollering digital in the near future :finger:

Get your demo's over to some of the local guys/girls on here, nights like Neuroscience, Beat Therapy, Elementum etc... are always giving the new breed opportunities.

Get signed up to the Nucastle Podcast they have running on here also, crackin little platform to get your mixes heard by all the right people.

Get your nose into all the nights that are currently running, speak to the guys/girls direct so they know a face etc...

i wouldnt bother starting the night tbh

newcastle has all it needs trance wise and owt extra will be a fail - if you wanna start playing at nights, send demo's out to the people involved in the nights that are already established

get to know people in the scene before starting something out of the blue and without any 'contacts' as it were - you may start a night only to find something better has a night on the same date etc..

i wouldn't shoot people down for wanting to try something - why shouldn't they? but i do agree that find out whats out there first is a good step, find out venues, get into the current local dance scene and get a feel for it.

Stereo would be perfect for the a student based mid week night plus it might bring more new people into the local scene which can only be good.

it will be hard work, don't expect unknown people to come just cause you're playing a certain style of music, trance is quite well catered for locally so you're best building a flowing off your friends and people you know and associate with and maybe over time the word might get out and spread if it's a good enough party with a good crowd, good music in the right place.

surprising your saying that MOS, direct from the Vice-President of detox  ;)

i dont think there are enough venue's tbf. it's a shame everyone seems to float around the other end of town now :(

i love the scene and the music - why would i want to stop people going out and listening to music? aslong as people do their research, put on what people want, give back to the community, respect the other people going out of their way to do things - why not!

i think there's a few lacking decent mid sized venues for people (but there ARE all sorts of places where u can play music if u don't just think about a typical 'club') but more importantly - the lack of PUNTERS is the big problem.

I would go to more stuff but I fucking hate clubs. They seem designed to give you an unpleasant time
