stanton STR8-100 are these tunrtables anything like 1210's or are they not as good. are they worth going for over 1210's because of the lack of cash or should i save for longer???
save for technics...or you,ll end up selling your stantons 12 months down the line at a big loss and end up getting technics anyway...so its cheaper to get technics in the first place...i reckon 1200,s looks sexier than 1210s
I use stanton's and have no problems at all. Basically if you can mix you can mix, so changing from one deck to another isnt gonna be a big problem if you understand mixing. simple
I used to have these they are ok for learning on but when i got my 1210's i was in heaven 100% better than the STR8's
When we had vestax installed in the plasma lounge at GC one 90% of the DJs said they HATED them, and we all bugged the management untill they put 1210's in.. some of the regular djs started playing whole sets from the CDJ's and i dont blame them.... 1210 have perfect weight and torque there is a reason they have not been changed in years, because they are beautifully balanced.
If you've onyl ever mixed on 1210's then of course you're going to hate them until you get used to them. If you've only ever mixed on pdx's then you'll tend to find 1210's are slow, unresponsive, restrictive in the features they have, and skip a lot. Its what you're used to.
I have STR8-100 and are finding them absolutely solid hard to learn to mix on because of the digital pitch control - the speed changes a heck of a lot more than it does on analogue pitch decks. Mine are nowhere near as good as 1210's, but pretty much all the techy magazines reviewed the STR8-150's as notably superior to 1210's.
I haved owned Gemini 1000 Stanton STR8-100 Vestax PDX2000 and 1210;s and too me the 1210;s kick arse......Yes i can mix on all but 1210 just feel the best and the vestax have fAR too much toruqe
Thats a load of rubbish, ffs. It comes in two forms. The Extreme Newbie - "well they all play records dont they" The Stereotypically Arrogant DJ - "Yeah well, im gona be a world number one, I can use anything me" Try playing a decent set on a pair of shit decks, then im sure you change your mind. IMO you can only be 100% confortable on gear you are used to. Quick Fix has access to Technics, which is all well and good. but if you get non-Technics, and then go to play a gig having never used Technics, i GUARANTEE you, from experience, that it wont be nice. So just save yourself the hastle, and stick with the Technics. They are my third set of decks and they wont be replaced.
Agreed its like anything really it takes time to learn how to mix on new kit... Look at Sasha he chucked a vestax deck in the lake cos he was shit on them and lets face it there is not many better DJs than sasha
i dunno why people insist on buying decks in pairs anyways - just buy one of each kind (vestax and a technics) and you learn to be more adaptable from the word go Sorted
