    St. Georges Day

    Happy ST Georges Day!

I am proud to be ENGLISH but maybe not as proud as some. I found this some good points but a bit ott.
    Have a read:

Well im gonna run with this St. George bug, So Here go's......

England is a small country in the north-west corner of Europe founded by the Anglo-Saxons, a race of warriors who came to this country and made it their own. Small we may be, yet the English nation’s influence spreads to the four corners of the globe. When travelling abroad it is virtually impossible to find anywhere untouched by our influence.

Sports and games invented by the English, medicines which have saved countless millions of lives, the industrial revolution - the spark that changed the world forever, English television, music, theatre, literature and culture. We have
given the English language to the world along with its greatest masters; Chaucer, Shakespeare, Milton and Tennyson.

During the dark days of 1939 we stood alone against tyranny and, along with our allies, saved western civilisation from destruction. No selfish reason dictated this stance. The Germans did not want to fight us. Quite the opposite, they actually admired us. The cost of the war in both manpower and financial terms helped advance England's fall from world eminence by decades. We stood alone for no other reason than it was the right thing to do. Is this all so easily forgotten?

Our glorious history stands testament to our sense of adventure. A history of invention, of development and advancement, both of our own people and our neighbours near and far. Our martial spirit and military history stand apart from any other nation. A rich tapestry to be savoured, admired and protected.

We have a heritage that is the envy of the world and yet, due to political correctness, it is a history and culture that is to be denied us. Scottish, Irish, Asian or any other culture you can think of is to be celebrated, but we the English are not afforded the same opportunity to celebrate our identity. This cultural genocide has now reached the point where any notion of Englishness, even our own flag, is being shouted down by the left wing thought police and labelled
    offensive or even racist.

It is a national tragedy that through political correctness we are unable able to instil a sense of pride and history into our children. What harm can possibly come from all of our children having a greater sense of pride, identity and belonging to their own country? Indeed, in times where many have no sense of direction, when communities arefragmented, the nation state can provide that identity, pull everyone together and tell us something of who we are and from where we came. At the end of the day, political correctness is nothing more than a weapon in the hands of a
small minority, used to deny the majority their right to express their opinion and culture.

Always remember that no matter where you go and what you do, you carry something inside you that sets you apart from other nationalities.

We are the ones who have given so much to this world.

We are the ones who have touched this planet like no others.

We are the ones who have so much of which to be proud.

    Walk on. Stand tall...

    We are the English!

    It should be!

London's mayor Ken Livingston give £100,000 towards parties in the capital to celebrate St Patrick's Day, he was asked for cash for some St George's days parties he gave nowt.

    This sort attitude breeds racism

we stood alone during WWII cos we were alone and had no choise. Hitler admired us, bit that wasn't why he didn't try to invade us, that was more to do with him being shit scared of our navy, despite thiers being almost as powerful.

If hitler hadn't decided to attack Russia and try to fight a war on two fronts we'd have been well fucked. Our army was tiny compared to germanies. Our Air Force was well inferior too, we got lucky in the Battle of Britain. Germany could have invaded us in 1940/41 no fucking problem

Hitler didn't trust Stalin, so attacked him, and if he'd issued his troops with proper winter clothing he'd have probably beaten them. Instead, the russian winter killed his troops at the gates of Moscow, like they did to Napoleon in 1812. Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture is about this event, the bells are you hear are the bells of Moscow

If Japan hadn;t bombed Pearl Harbour, USA would have sat and watched us and Europe crumble. Then and now the USA is only good at providing a lot of muscle. Other than that, in military terms they are shit.

Never believe that USA saved our arse in 1941+, England and Russia did by not giving in, the USA only really fought in 1943-45, and it was a Russian flag that was raised in Berlin, not the stars and stripes.

english/british invented and discovered virtually everything. The japanses and americans are just better at making them, but they are shit at ideas

England shaped the world as it is now, but it's a shite country now

Errrmm, weren't Scotland, Wales and Ireland involved in WW2 as well? It seems the first post is a bit revisionist by claiming it was just England.

I do think the English flag should be 'reclaimed'. It seems ridiculous that other countries can fly their flag, but if anyone puts up the English one they are deemed as racist.

The USA did save our arses by lending us buckets and buckets of weapons and money, we still owe the bastards loads of money and it has allowed them to stop us producing technologies that would make some of there stuff look like pocket calculators.

They did save us but we have and still are paying the gready cunts now.

One of the big problems why it isnt celebrated enough is that there isnt a good enough link between St George and England. He only became our Patron saint when Richard the 3rd decided he needed on for his knights when they were on the crusades.

St George is also the patron saint of Portugal, Germany!!!!, Greece, Moscow, Catalonia (why there is the St George cross on the Barca club badge) to name a few.

Still, i'll b avin a few pints of ale 2nite in honour!

I said it would be different if you were representing a Pakistani etc who was wearing a pin badge with his/her countrys flag on it and said there was no way I'd apologise for being born an Englishman!

Manager told him where to go! :D
