    Sound/Soundcard Problem...

just got an external soundcard (Creative Sound Blaster SB0300) from my bro but when i try to record from my mixer to my laptop thru it the sound is all distorted... its going into the line in on the SC then that plugs into a USB port on my laptop... everything looks ok in soundforge, no clipping or anything.

    but it sounds like this...

Has the soundcard got a control panel software on your desktop?

If so check that the levels are ok in that....

is there an option on the soundcard to switch between phono and line? If so double check its on line (or vise versa)

that reminded me that i got a cd with it... installed the software on that and it works perfectly now

it seemed to work when i plugged it in so i assumed you mustn't need the software

thanks for you help! (even if it only solved my prob indirectly, it still solved it!) :D
