Sound Card I am thinking of getting a new sound card specifically for music production with reason. I think I have managed to narrow it down to 2: M-Audio Audiophile 2496 or Creative Audigy 2 platinum.... Any thoughts or other ideas?
2496... I use the M Audio 2496 card, it’s a very good sound card for try level production; I would recommend that you get a small mixer to route any synths, FX units through it though. Lee
Thats why... The Audiophile is a 24 Bit 96KHz recording platform, as opposed to the Sound blaster, which is adequate for onboard multimedia and games, but not really suitable for sound production, in my opinion anyway. But, as I said, you need a small mixer to route it through your sequencing package. Lee!
I have a SoundBlaster Live! Platinum card and it rocks, the live drive svaes a lot of faffing about. I bought this SC before the Audigy range was introduced, and all I've heard about Audigy is good things. Not heard anything about the other though, so couldn;t really compare.
The audigy is without a doubt the best budget soundcard around... Its much more powerful than a bog standard multimedia card and can handle anything an amateur producer throws @ it.... The Audiophile is without a doubt the better sound card but its about double the price (I think), if your serious about producing then this is the better card, but in the long run you'll probably end up upgrading to the dsp factory anyway (there is no other alternative )... If your wanting a soundcard that'll help you take your first step into computer production, then go for the audigy and save that extra £100 for a better soundcard, if you think you'll keep it for a longish time go for the audiophile as its a far better soundcard.... Unlike turntables a quality budget soundcard (which both are) is more than enough to get into production (where as belt drives are more hassle than they're worth )
ive got the SB live plat - which is OK...but only OK..... if i was serious about my tunes id get that AP card....
Ya jokin rite???? :spangled: If not then tis easy, whack the cover off ya pc.....take out ya old soundcard (assuming it aint built into motherboard....) simply uncrew and remove it....then just slot the new one in, screw it down, stick cover back onto pc, boot up and windows shud do the rest.......
