Snoop Denied Visa http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6498155.stm taken from BBC Website US rappers Snoop Dogg and P Diddy have been forced to cancel a joint UK tour after Snoop Dogg was denied a visa. The shows were called off after "credible behind the scenes efforts were made to no avail to reverse the decision", a tour spokesperson said. The stars had been due to perform in London on Tuesday, followed by Cardiff, Manchester, Glasgow and Nottingham. The tour will resume in Dublin on 31 March. Ticket holders can get refunds from the original place of purchase. "With late notice of Snoop being denied a visa, time has ran out and it is too late reconfigure the show," the spokesperson said. The musicians were "incredibly disappointed and devastated", she added. P Diddy (left) and Snoop Dogg buried their differences for the tour "They really did not want to let fans down this way as the UK was a planned highlight of the tour. "However, this ultimately was a situation out of their control." Snoop Dogg had hoped the government would reconsider his visa after he said he was promoting a message of non-violence to children and would make a donation to an anti-violence charity. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office said it could not comment on individual cases. In an interview with MTV in Amsterdam, Snoop Dogg - whose real name is Calvin Broadus - expressed his frustration at the UK authorities' late decision to deny him a visa. "They knew I was coming six, seven weeks ago, so they could have denied me access then," he said. "I cannot control my past - me being an ex-gang member, ex-drug dealer - but I know how to do what's right, how to turn my life around." In trouble The visa decision follows a string of run-ins with the law. The 35-year-old musician is currently facing weapons and drugs charges in the US stemming from three separate arrests in 2006. Earlier this month, he was held overnight by police in Sweden on suspicion of using drugs. He was cautioned by UK police last year after being arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and affray at Heathrow Airport. Snoop Dogg came to prominence as part of the 1990s gangsta rap scene, scoring hits including What's My Name? and Gin and Juice.
My mate is gutted about this he had tickets for Glasgow Calvin was gonna get his cheque book out for a "non violence" charity...whatever that means P Diddy has enough material to take the show on himself which is blatantly sticking a middle finger up to the Government at the expense of the fans imo
Snoop Dogg banned from Australia Snoop Dogg was also recently denied a UK visa Rapper Snoop Dogg has been banned from entering Australia after failing a character test, according to officials. The star - real name Calvin Broadus - was due to co-host the MTV Australian Video Music Awards on Sunday. The 35-year-old had his visa cancelled after recently pleading no contest to gun and drug charges in the US. "He doesn't seem the sort of bloke we want in this country," Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews told Sydney's Macquarie Radio. Incidents "This man has been a member of a Los Angeles gang, and is still associated with it apparently, that's been involved in murder, robberies and drug dealing in the LA area," Mr Andrews added. Back in February, when Mr Broadus last visited Australia, immigration officials warned him then that he could face a ban if he got into anymore trouble. The rapper now has 28 days to protest the decision. Donald Etra, the rapper's Los Angeles-based lawyer, said he had not heard from his client about the visa cancellation and could not comment. Snoop Dogg was forced to pull out of his UK tour with P Diddy The decision follows a string of incidents that Mr Broadus has been involved in over the past year. He was recently given five years probation and 800 hours of community service in the US after pleading no contest to gun and drug charges. And last month he was forced to scrap his UK tour with fellow rapper P Diddy after authorities denied him a visa. On a previous visit to the UK, the rapper and members of his entourage spent a night in jail after being accused of starting a fight at Heathrow Airport. He was also held overnight by police in Sweden on suspicion of using drugs
