    SMB's...

Had to laugh at this (nicked from nuf.com)

The mackems have been quick off the mark to launch a website promoting their bid to be a host city for the 2018 World Cup - should England be chosen as the venue.

However a closer look at their website shows that all is not what it seems. While including Penshaw Monument and Durham Cathedral in the photo montage is inevitable, the use of Bamburgh Castle and the Stockton Bridge is perhaps taking artistic licence a wee bit far.....

Pride of place though goes to the image titled "Millennium Bridge" (strange how any references to its actual location are missing, be they the "G" word Gateshead, the "T" word Tyne or indeed the "N" word...Newcastle)

We look forward to seeing how the bid takes shape, especially when they start boasting about excellent connections by air....without using the "N" word.

Why you'd want to include anything in Stockton in a bid for anything is beyond me.

Just went onto that Host Bid website as well. Some of the places bidding to be a host city are a joke.

    Nottingham, Portsmouth, Bristol. Fuck off.

Imagine Brazikl being told they are playing their group games at Fratton Park.

Surely the host city's will be the clubs with the best grounds ie. Wembley, The Emirates, Old Trafford, Stadium Of Light, St James, Anfield, Villa Park etc rather than selcting it because a City looks good and some fans said they want to vote their city in.

    What a load of shite.

They're trying to host games for the world cup. Why would they only mention things that are within a 5 mile radius of the stadium? Do you think the people promoting this give a shit about the rivalry between fans? Do you think the people who intend on watching the world cup games give a shit about the rivalry between fans? They're probably promoting the stadium of light more than the city of sunderland.

Thick geordies clutching at straws yet again.

I presonally hope both the Stadium of light and St James get to host games. I'd go to both.

How does showing a picture of a Newcastle/Gateshead landmark promote the Stadium of Light?

It would be good if Newcastle and Sunderland got picked but realistically there will only be one in the NE.

They're not just gonna mention stuff thats in the stadium are they? They're mentioning stuff thats in the nearby area. If you're that bothered by it why dont you write them an email complaining.

I think Newcastle would probably get it because of a number of reasons. Nearer the airport, bigger capacity, better city centre.

    Couldnt give a fuck personally.

Geordies are clutching on to straws for insults like the mackems have for the past 10 years.

The fact is both teams will always be shit and will never win the premier league, so worry about something that actually matters.

apparently newcastle has plenty of throttled straws on the go.

i couldent care less, i'm not clutching at straws for insults at all. sunderlands a shite tip

however it would probably make a massive difference to the regional economy if both cities held cup matches (saying that, isnt 2018 the year that the recession is due to stop?)
