    Skiing/Snowboarding

Thinking of trying one of these eastern european resorts this year - has anyone been to slovenia, serbia, romania, etc?

pizza on a mountain? I can get that in Italy - I fancy some traditional bulgarian fried egg, beetroot and beef cassarole if I'm sacrificing piste ;)

They look loads cheaper than western europe and the soviet style ski resorts are very appealling

For a raffish youg Jew like yourself I would have thought you'd be eyeing the Chilean slopes, certainley seem to be the en vouge destination if you want to escape the french/italian scmultz..

Chile is a little too raffish for me - I like the bleak soviet undertones of eastern europe.

I personally feel if your splashing out 2 grand on hotel and flights it makes more sense to visit Chile in the summer when you can take in the entirity of its views :p

A lad I work with went to Berovets (sp) in Bulgaria. He said it was cheap as chips and there were quite a few long runs. There was also an abundance of hookers, though whether they stand on street corners in -20 temps i dont know.

I really want to go to canada this year but the prices are fucking extortionate so might look into these places aswell.

    Who said anything about hotels?!

There is a certain je ne sais quoi, secret service like charm that goes with holidaying in the ski resort of choice for the discerning soviet cold war powermongers of the past though..

pre season faux snow in andorra for me this year

nah always fancied pas de la casa in my sociable days... but crowds and cheap beer don't have the same appeal they used to.

cheers for the advice ruth.... you ever thought of writing for lonely planet... I'm starting to think you've traveled through more countries than the Jews ;)

Back to Sol for me in 5 months time .... really fancy another one straight after that before the 2007 season ends .... maybe one of these 'up and comings' perhaps.
