Six Nations anybody else excited? i'm usually raring to go by now, but given the disappointments of the autumn tests and the shocking team that's being put out today, i'm a bit nervous. c'mon england
fortunately for us we were able to capitalise on bergamasco's inability to play scrum half goode looked out of his depth aside from his try i really rate haskell... pure battering ram
bergamasco was shocking in the first half like. and andy goode had a shocker. haskell is a really good player, but i'd still go with tom croft at 6 and tom rees at 7, given the elv's, i think a mobile back row is what we need, being unable to stick the ball in a rolling maul. regardless of our win, we played absolutely no rugby. too much kicking and no fluidity. wales were putting some great passes together today, which makes me a bit worried for next week. hopefully we'll have floody back at 10 and harry ellis will stick at 9.
wales r going to tear us apart i would rather haskell kept his place, englands problem lies with lack of quick ball, we cud benefit from committing more than 2 or 3 forwards at the rucks, slow ball is resultin in the likes of noon bein deprived of the chance of makin one of his powerful runs... the ball bearly made it down the line to sackey on saturday i would say replace borthwick, i dont rate him, poor captain and imo substandard 2nd row... not sure who id replace him with but id expect a 2nd row forward to be a powerful ball carrier amongst other things and borthwick was constantly getting knocked back on saturday, nick kennedy was outstanding though there is such a gap between forwards & backs that it will take more than just flood returning to the lineup to help..
i agree about borthwick. i'd drop him and stick simon shaw in there. better player, but only a temporary measure as he's 34. in all honesty i think haskell could play second row, which would again let tom croft come in at 6. he's the quickest forward around. as for a captain - i'd give it to andrew sheridan. only 28, cemented himself as one of our best players, a good age to carry us through into the next world cup. and i agree about the lack of quick ball too, but i think floody's a lot better than goode at 10 and mixes it up a bit. the only worry there is that he's not the best at kicking.
i could actually see haskell in 2nd row.. he's about 6'1 so probs on the minimum height anyways.. and his short hard runs with ball in hand are reminiscent of a 2nd row sheridan was very quiet on saturday, italy's tight five were a lot better as well
i was built like a rake at school...although i was shit at football. rugby was the only thing i was allowed to represent the school at (as well as high jump like, but that doesn't really count) anyway, tindall in for jamie noon and worsley in at 7 for the weekend. both absolutely shocking decisions...
fat props running around are almost a thing of the past, due to the way rugby has evolved over the last few years and the turning of rugby into a professional sport, players have become more athletic, clubs employ proper fitness & conditioning coaches, id say they are possibly even more meticulous than football clubs due to the intense physical nature of the game... im talkin national league 2 and above btw altho a lot of regional division clubs have such coaches.. anyways.... worsley & tindall
worsley is shit anyway, but he's especially shit at 7, as he's naturally a 6. tindall is just terrible, jamie noon is the best tackler we have. stephen - who do you play for? and where?
i play for border park rfc who are up on the scottish border but in the northumberland leagues, hooker but have spent most of this season in the 2nd row as we r a bit short staffed there and we hav 2 other good hookers.... im only 5'9
