Simian Mobile Disco // Fri 02 // The Empire // Middlesbrough SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO We know James & Jas from fronting the critically acclaimed band, Simian, and now the two have embarked on a series of dancefloor party productions, remixes & original tunes. The duo is set to produce and remix some of this years hottest new bands including Test Icicles, Arctic Monkeys, The Mystery Jets, Doloroso and Absentee. ABOUT SMD: James Ford and James 'Jas' Shaw, moonlighting from their production/drum and keyboard duties in Simian, first formed Simian Mobile Disco as a DJ partnership. After playing around Manchester for a while, the two became their own in-house tour DJs, playing underground clubs and after-parties across the world. The DJing led to a series of acclaimed mixtapes and remixes for bands such as Simians Source labelmates, Air, and eventually Simian Mobile Disco began their own original production work. Soon the Mobile Disco name took on a life of its own. Having DJd all over the world including for groups like LCD Sound System, Tiefschwarz and Soulwax, they recently remixed The Kills, Ladytron and The Departure. Now, the boys are hammering away on an LP due for a 2006 release and a very limited mixtape for their fans to consume while they hunker down and wait for the album. THE TUNES: James and Jas have numerous releases under their belt. The Justice remix of Simian's "Never Be Alone" was a huge club hit worldwide. Building from the underground success of this year_s electro house wig-outs The Count, The Mighty Atom and recent single Piggy in the Middle, SMD recently released another two tracks to the music loving public on V2s Click Click bang imprint. The slap bass grooving Pulse is the retrotronic sound of driving through Miami in a convertible caddy with Giorgio Moroder skinning up in the passenger seat and Holger Czugay in the back. www.myspace.com/simianmobiledisco plus resident Daniel Stanwick 10pm - 3am
Or alternatively go here!........ B/F admin/mods treat this post as spam & delete it again, it`s worth considering the Empire recently took the decision to stop all advertising of any rival night on their message board, including small local nights like Habit/*RiffRaff etc, any that are posted are deleted pretty sharpish, to continue to spam other sites with publicity for their events is hypocritical at best........
I should defo be there, working on a package that`ll see Elaine agree, as she`s had a counter offer from her old school mates in H`pool (AS IF they`ve anything to offer that`d beat *RR!), hopefully we`ll both see you there, as it`s been a while & would be good to catch up!........
All the more reason to shun the `Shack in Favour of *RiffRaff @ The Purple Onion feat. AudioJack then!.....
I’ve seen them about 4 times in the last 6 months or so, they’re always nobbing about the east end.. not once have I been even slightly impressed..
