Si Quick (Habit) - Top Tunage for the last month or so....

Best tracks of the last month…
    November 6th, 2007

This list could have been a Top 50 as I seem to have found so many great bits of music this month but heres a list of 11 great ones. In no particular order…

Monty Luke & Tasho - Paranoid (Mothership)

This is a wicked acid wobbler to liven up a warm up set. Best way I can describe it is ‘music to fall over to’. Great repetitive vocal sample which will spin a few heads.

Neil Bainbridge & Lewis Boardman - Kalash (MBF)

New collaboration between residents of Shindig and Circus, full on bass heavy groover to get things moving up a gear.

Kollektiv Turmstrasse - Eskapade (Diynamic Music)

Diynamic is fast becoming one of my favourite labels of 2007. Their trancey take on deep house has saw them release some absolute crackers this year from the likes of HOSH, Solomun and now Kollektiv Turmstrasse. The Diynamic is best described as what Sasha would play if he was born in Cologne.

Len Faki - Black Sheep (Radio Slave remix) (Len Series)

Never heard the original of this but Matt Edwards has created one hell of a horror-house tune here. DARK

Sian - Apple Tree (Aus Music)

Another of my favourite labels of 2007. Aus and Simple are really leading the British charged on the Germans. Sian has created just a great piece of music, its definitely not a peak time track for most people but if played at the right time and place, this will cause a bit of dance floor drama.

Will Saul - Mbira (Wahoo remix) (Simple Records)

Now this really is something special. The first 3/4 minutes of the track are just a build of live tribal drums and a rather narly bassline until suddenly you are hit with some absolutely epic string action that will literally blow the dancefloor to bits. This track is an absolute masterclass. No wonder Dixon is held in such high regard.

Orange Asli - Glengoyne Spring EP (Farside)

Icelands best thing since Bjork (they havent really dont much else for us Brits apart from chill Damon Albarnout). Asli aka Jon Frimmanson shows us why hes being namechecked by the likes of Garnier and Saul with this 4 track EP of deepness. Swiss maestros WestPark Unit give us a wicked dub of Springsequence which takes the original to a darker level.

    Echospace - Empyrean (Modern Love)

Dub Techno is a sound ive been experimenting with in warmup sets and this is one of the best ones out there from Manchesters Modern Love label. This is CRISP

David Labeij - Something Else (Remote Area)

David was a producer I was unfamiliar with until now but if this is anything to go by then I’ll be taking a lot more notice. The kick in after the second breakdown is a right headspinner.

Supermayer - Planet of the Sick (Kompakt)

Highlight of the album for me, this track may sound very familiar but who cares when its this good. BOUNCEY

Tony Allen - Kilode (Carl Craig remix) (Honest Jons)

Is Carl Craig the best producer of dance music, EVER? I think so….this rework of afrobeat legend Tony Allen has possibly the best bassline of 07 and really puts a smile on the faces. Most djs seem to have moved away from vinyl but if you are going to make one vinyl purchase this year then make it this.

    Honourable mentions go to

DOP - Allo Boom Boom (Circus Company)
Underworld - Crocodile (Ame remix) (Underworld Live)
Taho - The Hybrids (Wink edit) (Ovum)
Art Bleek - Antichambre (Rush Hour)
Gat Decor - Passion (Danceteria remix) (CDR)
