Shindig: The Terrace Bar - The Little Space With The Big Beats.... SHINDIG: The Terrace Bar All new ideas need space to develop.. and since our move to Digital, weʼve been searching for that personal patch of the club where we can stretch our musical policy to the distant corners of dance music. Shaping Shindigʼs ever-changing face we celebrate 17 years in club land inviting you to join us in our new Terrace Bar. Bringing together a unique balance of original artists, quality underground Dj;s and label parties, the intimately darkened Terrace Bar with added sound and décor will delicately offset the main room as the perfect little dancing den to entertain new faces, old friends and future revellers. Although inevitably the majority of the crowd besiege the main roomʼs dance floor to see the headlining act, the little space with the big sound system aims to serve up a fusion of eclectic beats, underground house and social sounds to a loyal following of nightcrawlers. We all love a good small party, encouraged along by great music in a space where you feel like your in tune with the beats, so as Danny Howells & Shlomi Aber take care of the main room celebrations, our 17th Birthday sees the disco and funk infused Crazy P wet your appetite with the atmosphere of whatʼs to come. Working with the feel of the room and interacting with the crowd, some of the best parties in Newcastle have indeed taken place inside four small walls so expect a wide musical range with a host of other top-notch DJs to follow including Vincenzo, Versatile's I:Cube, and Bearweasel (8 Bit / Tsuba) as well as Will Saulʼs Simple Records bi-monthly residency kicking off with Germanyʼs Motorcitysoul. Synonymous with Shindigʼs peerless blend of exciting new guests, local talent and extended resident sets the Terrace Bar will introduce some lesser known DJs and Labels, carefully programmed with a distinct club vibe and welcoming attitude each and every Saturday. Where abouts is this - downstairs in the other rooms? Be interesting to see what has been done to it. Will defo be down to catch Vincenzo too
no major refits or owt.. but we are bringin in extra sound, booth and a bit decor etc.. oh.. and dimming the lights a LOT and cranking up the sound.. and having some wicked guests and ressie nights in there too
wonder if this has anything to do with my suggestion of Digital Upstairs/Other Rooms becoming 'one' club ? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
good shout this, even if just to stop wella hurting peoples' ears. i:cube and motorcitysoul should both be canny
Sounds good this like, its a decent little bar so with a bit extra sound, lights and a new booth it should be spot on. The only thing that spoils it imo is using outside the bar as a smoking area, ive played in there a couple of times and there has been a constant stream of people going in and out for a smoke, making it hard to get any atmosphere going. Would be good if the other area next to the main entrance is used for smoking permanently to avoid this (apologies if this is now the case - it has been on recent visits to shindig though not sure if its now a permanent arrangement).
thats pretty much the plan yeah, its a crackin little space to make full use of. With the summer months approaching (even in british weather), would be nice to think there will be a nice flow and connection with the outside smoking area and the new bar. really excited about some of the guests we have planned, also some guests that have previously rocked the main room but are more suited to a smaller vibe. just need abit of sunshine now..
I like the sound of this. There's nothing better than a small room and great music. The guests are right up my street too. Will it be open right from start to finish? Will the guests have extended sets (3-4hrs or even more) so they can get right into it?
Vincenzo, I:Cube, Bearweasel and Motorcitysoul are all solid booking like, i look well forward to hearing who else is planned for the future
nice idea this like, looking forwad to seeing the room, been wanting to see a few of these artists play aswell!
