Do England still need Al up front?

With Becks fizzing crosses in you need someone who can get up & head them in, Beats,Hesky & Crouch don't look the answer & neither & Shrek & Owen fully maximise Beckhams crosses as they are both runners & are small height wise & they dont have the spring like like a Wrighty,Sir Les & Shearer have.

he didnt turn his back on the country... he felt he would be doing a disservice by playing for both club and country, and therefore performing at his best in neither.

I can see his logic, he wanted to play at his best, doing both would have hindered that.

we have missed his presence, admittedly.

Alan retired like many internationals do when they go over 30.

Roy Keane is an example of someone who turned his back on his country when he realised the shamblolic job MMc was doing.

I would say your best player & captain walking out due to many reason such as playing on training pitches with long grass, 10 a side games with outfield players in goal & few other things that Roy felt were wrong about the setup = SHAMBOLIC,regardless of results. In that World Cup Gary Breen even looked good Ireland.

Got out when he was on a high didn't he. Thinking about himself! Bet he regrets it now though, as England have potential to actually do something now.
