Shearer ready to be toon boss. Thoughts...? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ady-Newcastle-boss-says-close-friend-Lee.html
Re: Shearer ready to be toon boss. I was watching goals on sunday a couple of weeks back and Rob Lee was very open about this on the show and suggested he would be Shearers no 2 if he went into management at any club not just Newcastle. It sounds like a dream partnership with 2 players that mean so much to the fans and the club but sometimes things don't always have the fairytale ending, I'm not sure TBH, Shearer is Newcastle thru n thru and what better in a No 2 than Rob Lee for a lot of toon fans, but what must be the main thing many will notice is nether of them have any experience, and this is top flight football. I'd love to see them come in and do a great job for us but also i'd like to see them come to the club with some sort of management experience 1st.
Its always gonna be a risk appointing someone like that, when Keane took charge of us, i had my doubts. But he's done extremely well so far, can't fault him other than some ridiculous signings lol. Playing under two of the best managers ever hasn't done him any harm tho. I think shearer is a huge risk for you lot as we were in the fizzy pop league when we got Keane, shearer would be coming into a struggling premier league club with absolutely no managerial experience and would automatically be expected by 1000's of geordies to turn the club around. You never know, getting Mary Poppins might create such a buzz around Sid James Park it might get your squad playing, then again....
I think we've tried everything now, only thing we haven't is giving people enough time which I honestly believe that he'd be the only person out of all to actually get to turn us around & gain some stability, so be it if were mid/bottom table for a few seasons. I do agree tho, it is risky not only for the club moreso for his reputation if he fails.
