sharing internet connection through a USB modem can this be done? simply want shame the connection to one other PC, on windows 98, both pc's have network cards and i have a cross over cable to attach them with, just wanna know if u can and how to do it cheers
cheers i tried to set it up but when it asked me to select the connectio i used to connect to the internet, it doesnt have the usb modem in the list, just the network card and the old modem. any ideas??
A better way to do this (provided your using a blueyonder broadband connection) is to buy a cheap router (£20odd) and convert the modem to Ethernet instead of USB, you'll have to assign the MAC address on BY Selfcare too. This will allow both machines to access the net without having to have one server machine turned on.
yeah its working on one PC, the one with modem attatched to it, but when setting up ICS, the modem doesnt appear in the list to select as the connection i use to connect to the internet. moss> its not blueyonder, unfortunatly its AOL
Nah its possible. Just needs to download proxy server software. Setup the proxy on the pc with inet connection n route everythin else thru that
cheers for the help lads havent got it working yet, tried with the proxy, but it cant seem to connect to the 10.0.0.1 address gonna have another play about when i get time
