i dont know - why can't u do it? oh - i thought we were waiting for a punch line. any error messages? who u trying to send to? are they online? i can send them fine.... tarrot cards out again...
firewall/router problems? Campus network? MSN Messenger doesnt take kindly to hardware firewalls when sending files
I think its firewall problems cos I can receive them but I cant send them. Everyone else seems to be able to receive them from other people but not me. Its not campus jone either, just a windows firewall.
That is my problem! i used to be able to send/recieve till i got Norton 2005! doesnt want to cooperate now
I'm a big Norton fan tbh, always used it! Never had any problems with the Professional editions, it's very good imo Marce/Remi: Check in your firewall settings, you may be able to add MSN Messenger to some form of "trusted programs list" which will allow msn to act as a client AND a server, if it can't act as a server then you can't send or recieve files. I don't know much about the Norton Firewall as I use Zone Alarm myself, but if there is no such entry on a trusted list for messenger, then the port which is used to send/recieve files will be implicitly denied access to the internet (in a "if you arn't on the list, you arn't getting in" type fashion....if there is nothing to say it CAN come in then it won't). If the problem persists, turn off the Norton Firewall and get yourself Zone Alarm I plan on getting Norton Internet Security 2005 soon, it has had excellent reviews! Norton
Agreeing with Juski on this one, Norton used to be good - now it just sells bucketloads of absolute crap. Only good Norton program left IMO is Utilities.
I still favour norton over any other anti-virus solution.. dunno why though.. I just do.. I think its the easy updating that keeps me installin it and recommending it to ppl.. Tried others like mcafee + panda but I don't thik any of them are a scratch on norton. I think its the fact that once your used to the interface u struggle to get used to anythin else.. a bit like tryin to get used to another os such a linux or unix.. just my 2cents worth..
True - it has an easy interface etc, but when it misses trojans that webroot (a spyware scanner) can pick up, it makes it as useful as a chocolate fireguard.
