    seeders / leechers

    What do seeders and leechers mean when downloading files...


    for example a torrent!

    do you want more seeders and less leechers? what the hell is a leecher? i take it a seeder is the ppl that have the file or sumthin?

    Seeder = someone with the complete file sharing chunks of it.
    Leecher = Someone downloadinf chunks of that file trying to get the complete file.

    Iirc more seeders and less leechers = more speed.

    You have to maintain a ratio of at least 1.0 (the higher the better) when using torrents, its how they work :up:

    You're likely to get banned from the sites you use if your ratio is less than 1.0

    Seed your greed as they say :p

    Not entirely true.

    On open sites like torrentspy / isohunt you dont have a login so you dont have to seed or keep a ratio :p

    I hate ratios..

    Hence why I use the groups.

    True but i prefer sites where you have to register, they tend to be moderated therefore no viruses :D
