EVANTI :: The Exclusive Sector-9 Interview For 6 years now StraightOn Blacks prodigal son Evanti has been working heavily on the “black” sound. Before that, he produced for many years, experimenting with different styles of music. The end product, after all these years locked away in the studio, is his unique, gruelling Techno sound, which is now lavished on the new breed of charismatic Hard Style found on the prominent releases steam rolling out on the StraightOn Black label. It all started when he hooked up with his partner in crime Thilo. Instantly they came up with "System Addict" which was a massive combination between the Hard Style influences of Thilo and of course the Techno element of Evanti. The essence of StraightOn Black was born! After playing all corners of the World, playing on the same events as legends such as Carl Cox, it is time to take over the UK with his side kick Thilo, grinding up their new Residency @ Sector-9. "It is an honour and a privilege to have this opportunity to bring the darker edged style to England. I'm really looking forward to give a blend of different styles and take you into a journey with his music!!!” Already confirmed to play at Defqon 2009, under his alter ego Evan Forest, we are proud to welcome Evanti to rock the Sector- 9 crowd. We catch up with him ahead of his Debut Residency set. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Q. So Evanti, How are you and what have you been up to? A. I'm doing great at the moment working on a lot of massive productions with my buddy Thilo and with different, top of the bill, artists. Q. Sector-9 Kicked off last month, what vibes have you been getting off the other Elusive crew, Thilo, Trilok and Chiren, who stormed the opening party? A. A lot of awesome vibes. I heard that the crowd were absolutely fantastic and a lot of faces we meet at Advokate came to show their support. So I’m looking forward to it. Q. Your partner in crime, and Sector-9 resident, Thilo was telling us a bit about the work he has been doing with you on the Straight On Black label? How everything going? A. It is going great. As I told you earlier that we are producing with different artists which include Dj Fausto and Mark EG. For us it is a honour to work with those guys, and the best thing is, that they do as well. We all think the same about making music and want to achieve a new dance scene with our StraightOn Black style!! Q. You looking forward to the new Star Trek film? A. Hmmm, no I’m not so into the "Bring me up Scotty" movies. Hahahaha. I like good action movies and thrillers. But I don't see so much movies, because I prefer to spend time in the studio. I always have ideas in my head that I want to produce. Q. Your new productions blend Pounding Hardstyle, techno loops and the old Hardstyle sounds. Thilo said last month that current Hardstyle is too melodic and everything sounds the same. What are your thoughts? A. Exactly the same... I find some elements really cool, but overall it is all the same. I believe that this style is too digital and has no feeling in it. I can understand that the "New" Hard Style fans love it, but I’m from the old stamp and I just miss the good old reverse bass in the whole track and not just in the beginning and at the end. Q. We hear you have some interesting collaborations on the production front coming up. Can you tell us any more or is it a secret? A. It is no secret!!! We are so proud to produce with other people like Mark EG and Fausto. When Thilo send Mark an email with the question if he wanted to produce a track he immediately booked a flight to spend 2 days in the studio. When we got him from the airport we had an instant chemistry about the way we think of music, so there was a good vibe, and you will hear that in our collaborations with Mark EG. (and we love his humour "Nipples and Bass" hahahahah ( Mark knows ). This is the same with Fausto as well. He's a great guy and we have a lot laughs when we are in the studio. And we can say that this track is gonna be awesome too!!! Q. You looking forward to your new residency @ Sector-9 with the many trips to the UK that comes with it? A. OH YEAH, I’ve already made good friends from Advokate and I think that the U.K is gonna be my second home country...i just love the excitement of the English people. They go completely mental on the music!!! Just f#@king great!!! Q. We hear that Elusive Head Honcho Jiri is a fish monger by trade. What do you do when you’re not producing or playing? A. I'm working as an account-manager for a business company that provides multi-functional printers, and besides that I try to make good quality time with my girlfriend Vanessa and our son Jordan. Q. Which of the Elusive boys never buys a round at the bar? A. No one buys a round hahahaha. We all like a good drink so we all buy drinks for each other except Thilo hahahaha just kidding (love you mate). He's my friend for life!!!! Q. Last one. Do you drink Tea and if you do what’s your favourite biscuits to dunk? A. Tea with Vodka (hmm). No just kidding, sometimes I drink tea with like earl grey or the green stuff ( they say that is healthy ?) with stupid waffles (we call it stroopwafels) damn I just love them. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Please join our groups @: DSI - http://www.dontstayin.com/uk/manchester/jabez-clegg/2009/may/16/event-210473 Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=60784590854 See the photos from the opening night here: http://www.elusiveagency.com/?id=62&nid=29&title=Sector 9 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
