second hand CDJs Anybody got any idea of how much second hand cdjs (800s i would think) with a half decent mixer goes for at the min? fancy taking my headphones off the hanger...
i've been looking on ebay for the last 6 months constantly waiting to get a decent set of CDJ's - prices are pretty much stable at the moment - before and after christmas the prices went mad but they're about right now - just scope around ebay. i'm still after another CDJ500...
if you are desparate you could always stick a set up on finance? however i probably wouldnt recommend it
To hell with CDJ's ... get that new denon thing that looks like one of their cdj's, but is a controller, soundcard and everything in one box!
denon...naaah finance...fuck that! excellent suggestion actually Si.....if I hadn't have sold my decks I could have just got that...oh well
2nd hand technics and scratch live will still be cheaper than 2nd hand cdjs you could then buy any budget mixer until you can reach for something better cant call it serato so much now, si, they're about to release another product called ITCH (they also made their name with the pitch'n'time plugin for protools - but that was pretty much ignored)
planning to get myself another dns5000 (they go on ebay for about £300 now), and then I might consider a CDJ if I can be arsed. All vestaxed up on the vinyl front so I might ponder buying final scratch and seeing if it's any good...
Dont see the point at all of relying on mechanical technology, or cdj's for that matter. ... with the time you save using digital controllers, you can spend chatting up dj groupies and working on a sloppy under-the-decks blowjob, nipping outside for a sneaky fag, and checking your facebook vampires score.
good luck with final scratch mate, heard nowt but bad things about it theres other systems out there, some are pretty good for the money - ms pinky (torq), mixvibes, traktor scratch, djDecks, deckadance, virtual dj.. if all you want is something to mess around with in the house, the ratio of having a crash mid set is not going to be too bothersome however, like everything, you get what you pay for and so far scratch live has the best track record. for performance and support - check the forums before you buy! personally, ive only killed mine twice in over 2 years - both due to not building all the overviews (school boy error) and both more or less when i first got it
Arent these timecode based vinyl/mp3 products limited by pitch fluctuations of the decks your playing on? Also, what about if the decks are knocked or the needle jumps? Seems a bit of a risk to me. Never used them so i havent got a clue.
god that reads like a politically correct analysis of djing records have been skipping for years, adds to the excitement imo
in relative mode you can slide the needle from the outside to the inside of the record and it wont miss a beat you have obviously never seen a DMC contest if you are wondering about needle skip, they can take a lot of flack if set up properly ...however, if you put the decks on an old wobbly table in the middle of the living room of your local drug den and someone happens to lean on it while losing balance from vast quantities of ket, you might be right to start the concern have you seen the numark idj2 and decided this is the way forward for all dj gear?
