Season Over for Dyer Newcastle midfielder Kieron Dyer's season is almost certainly over after he again damaged his hamstring during Wednesday's Tyne-Tees derby. The 26-year-old, who has had two scans on the hamstring in recent months, limped off after just 35 minutes of the 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough at St James' Park and must be a major doubt for England's end-of-season trip to the United States. But more importantly for Magpies boss Graeme Souness, he is extremely unlikely to play a part in the remaining four games of a season which is fizzling out alarmingly in the wake of an injury crisis. "He has damaged his hamstring properly," he said. "He feels he has pulled it, and you will not see him again this season if that is the case. "He has had the scans, the scans showed there was nothing there, but he felt something and it has caused him to come off on two occasions, so there is obviously something going on. "Maybe the scans are not as good as we all think they are because he feels now he has actually pulled it, so there must have been something going on there." Asked about Dyer's chances of making the England tour, which leaves on 24 May and includes games against the United States and Colombia, Souness added: "That very important, critical trip that the England team are going to America on? Is that the one you are referring to? "You know what the rules are, but I would prefer he did not - I would prefer none of them went given the amount of games we have got - but it is out of our hands. "But he is not going to be fit for a long time. If you do a hamstring, it is generally six weeks, and then you are talking about getting yourself fully fit." Source: Teamtalk
