    screen width

just restarted my computer and the screen width has almostg doubled - the resolution has stayed the same... so now everything looks stupidly squashed.

has anyone got any idea what could of caused this.

just the width joe? not heard of it b4... reset all the properties to something like 640*480, 16 colours. Reboot then change 1 option at a time, i.e. 800*600, reboot, 1024*768, then crank up the colours.

when rebooting - is the start up screen chuffed as well? where it does it's memory check and BIOS check?

what version windaz you running? try booting to safe mode - see if that works. or have u got a spare old monitor or anyone with a monitor spare u could borrow for 5 mins. chuck it on your pc - atleast then you'll know when it's the PC or the monitor.

    eh?

width in terms of what? - screen "real estate" ? - if so thats a resolution issue.

u using a different monitor and that sorted it? guess that means it fooked. get someone else to test your monitor on a different pc. if it's still fooked, bin or take it back where u bought it.
