like i said in my other post they're gunna spend millions on the pilot then at the end say 'we might as well use it now it's there' we ain't got fuck all say in this country , every time somthin come up we make a shit load of noise and it still go's ahead

petrol is gunna be a pound a litre "right ! let's kick off"

gov give freeze fuel duty "yeay" we all shout then not a year an a half later news reports of petrol @ £1 a litre

There's no point in signing it, the government have pretty much admitted that they're gonna go ahead and bringing in road pricing regardless of this petition.

I actually think it's a good idea, as long as the money made from it is actually put into improving public transport. People shouldn't be expected to ditch there cars unless there is an efficient and reliable alternative.

the higher road tax program that came in not two/three years ago was ment to be for "enviromental" issues did this make a diffrence did it squat they earned millions if not billions from the extra duty and has in no way been spent near me

i think if they are going to be re-investing our hard earned then the transport system needs to be re-nationalised and all sub contracts revoked it's the only way that the uk's public transport sytem could be good enough to replace the car as the uk's no one choice of travel IMO

what about the fact that they know where you are 24/7!?

How else are you going to deter people from using there cars if there is no other option available to them?

so, every car will need a 'tracking device' - EVERY car. i can see that being tough to administrate nevermind the initial cost people will have to outlay. WE will have to pay for the device.

ok, what about fraud? people will hack them and get the disabled. or clone another cars ID. or just disconnect it. it's a minefield.

THey should scrap roadtax and stick it on petrol. that way, people who USE the petrol are paying. oh, hang on, we're already paying 80-odd% tax on petrol.............

Nah, I don't agree with having a tracker installed in your car. But i'd have no problem with registration scanners.

Then again I don't drive, so it's not a big issue for me

I'd rather leave mine garaged than get a stupid box fitted. Thats the main down side to me, Its another big step towards big brother. There will be ablt to monitor you were ever you are. Surly thats an infringment on peoples human rights. Personally I dont think it will last long.

1. motorists pay enough as it is and the state of the roads dont even show
where the money goes to.
2. people dont want to pay to have a box fitted to their car. Thats one
modification people dont want done. (A nice exhaust or a body kit
maybe, but not a friggin box stuck on your dash board).
3. People dont want the goverment spying on their every move.


Somebody is bound to take this to the european courts of human rights and I think it has all the arguments to tell them to fook off!

Britain is really turning into a state were we are going to be told what and what we cant do. Seems all our rights to make our own minds up will be taken away altogether eventually

'they' only know where your vehicle is - you've got more to worry about from supermarket loyalty cards than you have the DVLA..

I'm against biometric ID as this allows the government to essentially wipe you out of society, but knowing the location of a car is no dofferent from knowing the location of a GPRS tracker on a bus..

why are you worried that 'they' know where your car is 24/7?

it's just a poorer than poor repose to a system that is more fair and just than the current tax system.. you use more buses, you pay more, you use more trains, you pay more, you use more electricity, you pay more.. you pay for what you use - is it such a difficult concept for people to grasp?

how will they be able to check where you are? the box isn't attached to your ankle.. it's a standard GPRS tracker found on most vehicles with satellite navigation.. if someone wants to track you they can do it with far more precision than a device in your car - every time your phone polls the nearest mast for signal you are traceable - it just isn't an issue...

Multibillion pound roadbuilding schemes, the largest single transport investment in history, international rail links, new tram systems in Nottingham, Sheffield, Manchester, Croydon, London, Birmingham.. is where the money is going..

you're so wide of the mark it's untrue... has it ever occurred to you who funds all this car lobby / anti road pricing propaganda? The people who stand to loose the most... Oil companies and car manufacturers, a few months ago they were telling us global warming didn't exist...

Do me a favour, your rights aren’t affected at all, I doubt you even know what they are.. all you give a shit about is the fact that you're finally being made to rightfully pay for what you use, as is with the case for every other utility - water - electricity - gas.. cars cause a disproportionate amount of damage environmentally, socially and economically and it's long overdue this cost was directly apportioned..

It annoys me how people are prepared to recognise and discuss how we are completely fucking the environment BUT expect other people to sort the problem out for them. The fact is people will not ditch their cars unless they are forced to do so.

i have to laugh at people trying to tie this issue in with the big brother theory

i don't really understand how a congestion tax will ease the situation, congestion taxing will simply divert the problem elsewhere
