Scottish clubbing

Has any of you out there done your 'Alan Hansen' in Scotland? I know that if people on this site are going to travel hours to go clubbing then the first places they would head are probably be Crasher, Gods or Sunny D - but has anyone headed north?

For those who like it bosh then a must for anyone is Inside Out or Freefall @ Arches. The Arches IMO is the best club in Britain & for atmosphere is second to none - anyone who has been will agree with that.

Also @ Arches is Pressure, a wicked Techno night run by Slam plus you also get Colours once a month which won Musik mags 'Club of the Year' award last year.

Edinburgh has nights like Progression, Indicator & a host of little club nights which plays all types of dance from D&B to funky house.

It would be good to here how many people have been - or are you all scared that us Jocks show you how it's done

oooo would love so badly to go to the arches cos thats where jules plays at aint it on a regular basis colours at the arches in glasgow...??!!! is one of ma missions to go there sometime like!! 4 deffo!!! xxxxx or mebbes i've got that wrong cos ya dont seem to hav mentioned colours..... mebbes im finkin of inside out at the arches....who knows....??!!! xxxx

Jules plays Inside Out quite a bit - he was resident of IO in 2001. It wasn't really the same seeing him play every month, especially as i thought he went through a lull last year.

The man to see at IO is Sir Guy - him & Tiesto blew the place apart earlier this year

RATT is quite gud but not been 4 a while so it mite have changed.
Indicator is gud. See thev got Hennes&Cold in November.
And im tryin out Nuclear Puppy quite soon cos IMO it looks outstanding. Its@Ego in Edinburgh and cybers are welcome which suits me:cyber:


Edinburgh nites are not really Trance/HH based though which is wat i like.

IMO
The atmosphere was ok at best (allot of beerboys) it’s not a patch on Promise.

The sound system and lights are shit unless you're standing in the main arch where the DJ is

Clubbing in Scotland is second to none..
The Arches is amazing but if your after real underground clubbing keep your ear the the streets for the best nights...

Never made it up there yet but plan to sometime.

And you wont show us how its done. I reckon we could keep up.

Been clubbing quite a few times in scotland... went to the Arches for boxing day the other year, and was one of my best nights out, wicked club, atmosphere and people...
Been to La Belle Angelle (spelling), that was good aswell cant really remember much of that night, but i had class time.
I went to the Honeycomb aswell, didnt like the club though, the people there were sound though...
Liquid Rooms is a nice dark and dingy club, Colours was on, I saw Xpress2 there awhile back, had a really good night there aswell...
Also been to Studio 24 aswell, had wickid night in there. Went for Techno nite called Pillbox, had a really good nite there. It had random drum & bass, hip - hop playing upstairs... the bouncers were sound there aswell

I go up there quite often, was up in Edinbrough last Saturday, didnt go clubbing that night though....hoping to go to room at the top sometime aswell...

Was up in Edinburgh two years ago for a stag do, Fizz n Craig took us to Inside Out with Mauro Picotto & John Kelly (Fizz still has the signed poster on his wall) Went back for a weekend, and had a couple of nights at some other place wot I can't remember, saw Tall Paul.

Aye the Arches is home to many of the best nights but it takes nothing away from the smaller clubs in Scotland. Monthly clubs are probably the best, in a very bugged out fashion it the "big event" atmosphere you get every single month that makes the clubbing here so good.

Also theres a pizza place near mine which has a dj. He plays some really banging stuff and is gud to get some nosh b4 u go out. Think he's got his own nite now

In the club section of M8 magazine there is always a listing for a monthly Promise night at Ego in Edinburgh - is this true? Has anyone been? (Dexta you might be able to help here) Is it any good?

Also a top night is The Rhumba at The Ice Factory in Perth - downstairs in there has to be one of the darkest, sweatiest dancefloors you'll ever find........awesome!!

Rhumba and The Arches IMo are the best in Scotland. I do love La Belle too but Edinburgh has a funny atmosphere no matter where you go.. Still good mind you!!

La Belle rocks, as did the Wilkie House when it was open - I can remember seeing Joey Beltram there years ago - now I'm showing my age!!

So will you be in the DJ box at Promise on the 15th as you where on the stage at GK @ the Arena whwn Picotto was on - ahah you were spotted

Nah, I'll be on the dancefloor matey.. I miss most of the good bits when Im back stage, besides Newcastle has exceptional talent. Im not missing an opportunity like this..hehe

hahaha, i remember at gods when picotto was on i was standing right at the front leaning on the barrier and watching the ppl on the stage, there was about 5 lads n one was taking pictures, i was paying loads of attention to em coz picotto was boring me so i was trying to entertain myself, which one were u, i have a very good memory so if u describe ureself n what u were wearing well enough, ill probs remember you!

Well there was 3 of us.

I was the one with the white sleevless top on(and a denim jacket at one point) My mate had just picked up his new nokia with the camera on it so thats probably the lad you saw taking the photos..

i can remember the lad with the phone taking the pictures, he was/you were getting the crowd going if i remember correctly!

I do remember us doing our funky disco dancing at one point.. In fact I was hoping no one had noticed that.. I was quite well on at that point. O dear.. hehe


Im glad to say i will be in a rather more sensible state at Promise..hehe. (Well so I say, not likely to happen)
