SAFC fans' web call to taunt sad NUFC supporters

AN internet call has been made for Sunderland fans to taunt the Toon Army.

A message board user is encouraging Black Cats fans to go into the visitors’ end during Newcastle’s final home game of the season against Fulham on May 16.

Northumbria Police today pledged there would be “appropriate” policing in place for the fixture.

Away teams at St James’s Park can be given as many as 3,000 tickets to follow their team.

But it’s thought the long trip north, the fact Fulham have nothing to play for and the London club’s traditionally small travelling support could mean only hundreds bother to make the journey.

Sunderland fans are now planning to buy up the excess tickets and taunt the Newcastle faithful on their teams relegation to the championship league.

    :lol::lol::lol:

get the tickets in big G

if you know the score then you would know that effort was made by newcastle this year but really not going into detail on a public messege board

but effort was made at yours and favour not returned which has been the case for 30 plus years a fact any lad could not deny

They have been waiting 22 years for such an opportunity after Newcastle fans pulled the same trick when the Black Cats were relegated in 1987. Back then, hundreds of Toon supporters travelled to Roker Park to attend a second leg relegation play-off against Gillingham, which saw the Wearsiders relegated to the old 3rd Division.

The internet campaign has been started on a football fans forum by one member known only as GMC1982. GMC1982 has been asking the advice from Fulham fans on the best way to get hold of away supporters tickets for the match.

He said: “In 1987, when Sunderland were relegated to the old 3rd division, hundreds of Newcastle fans attended in the away end in hope of witnessing the lowest moment in the club’s history.

“That was the day most believe our rivalry turned into sheer hatred.

“Everyone who attended that day has had to wait a long time for some kind of revenge.

“When Fulham go to Sid James Park if Sunderland are safe that day, and its a big if, a lot of Sunderland fans are planning attending that game in the Fulham end in hope of witnessing something on par with Gillingham in 1987.”

Both Sunderland and Newcastle each have three games left this season. Sunderland are currently sitting on 35 points with Newcastle in the relegation zone on 31.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “The last home match of the season tends to be a big event. We are well aware of the intense rivalries between Sunderland and Newcastle fans and our policing on the day will be appropriate.”

Malcolm Shiels, a committee member of the Newcastle Untied Supporters Club, said: “I basically think the plan is a little bit sad. Sunderland will be far from safe by then themselves.

“They could still go down and they should be concentrating on doing all they can to support their team in the relegation battle rather than coming to Newcastle.

“That is what Newcastle fans will be doing and I suggest Sunderland fans do the same. If the plan does go ahead I think it could cause problems for policing.

to be honest I don't think the mackems are in any position to be taunting newcastle, let alone any team below them.

Their own form sees them plummeting down the table, and if they're not careful they could quite easily be in the drop zone at the end of the season...

At the moment it's any three from the bottom five - all it takes is for boro or newcastle to win two and suddenly things look very bad...

SO to summarise then- The 'best night you ever had' was watching a Newcastle european game? Do they not have european games at the stadium of light? Apologies for my ignorance but I tend to not give a shit about Sunderland beyond them being one of the few teams around us at the minute who are equally woeful and likely to go down. Beyond that i've never really had to care cause they're not usually in the same league or at least in the five places around us. Really don't get all of this rivalry bollocks- I couldn't give a shit if you go down or not as long as we stay up- the only thing I care about is that for the first time in years we're actually occupying the same bit of the league table as you i.e the bottom

Lets face it when things go tits up Sunderland you's cant even muster a half decent squad to travel to your own Stadium to show unity or support... let alone waste your giro's on a metro ticket to come over our end.

As a Sunderland fan, you should know all about impending doom. I bet you pipe down pretty sharpish if we manage to pick up a win against the Smoggies. I still don't understand the rationale of taking the piss when you're going to be very lucky to stay up yourselves? Could you explain this to me please? You're going on like Sunderland are sitting comfortably in mid table.

Also, I just wanted to reassure you that there's no shame attached to actually wanting to see a bit of european football, even if you have to make a journey to one of your other local sides to do it.
