Router problem I've been asked to post this for a mate: I have been trying to get connectable for 2 months now and still cant! I have taken a Belkin router back to the shop thinking there was a problem with it and am now using a Netgear DG834GT and have port forwarded port 50000 for use with Azerus. I also forwarded ports on my software firewall. I cannot even get connectable when my software firewall is deactivated and my router in DMZ! Please help as I am so close to smashing my computer up. Cheers
- Azerus is his Bittorrent client, his issue is with porting forward!! If anymore info is required ask
From my mate: He uses torrent paradise who block port 6881-6999 as these can be throttled by some isps? Therefore i use a different port range... but this shouldnt make a difference. He says he has tried port 6881 though
So "bollocks" that you felt the need to waste 30 secs of your life posting that? Just out of interest why is it bollocks?
More like 20 seconds really. And I was only joking I've read worse bollocks to be fair. The mind of the Newbie is a fragile thing. have you tried using a different client? port forwarding is the common solution. Using the right ports is a good idea. What ISP is he on?
im with plusnet using azureus and its telling me port 6881 is blacklisted so ave tried 50000 and i get a lovely new EM somet about software connection error
if your router has UPnP, try turning this on (as well as on your PC). Then your PC will tell the router which ports to open. If this works then you know the problem lies with the config between your router/pc (this worked with mine). If this is the case, then try reconfiguring your port redirection on your router setup. Do NOT leave UPnP on, it may work but it leaves your machine vulnerable (one of many examples of UPnP exploits here: clicky ) Although the above exploit doesn't apply if you run Windows Update often, there are possibly more out there and most of the advice I've read on the net recommends you don't use it (see http://grc.com/unpnp/unpnp.htm for more details).
