ROME, March 15 (Reuters) - Middlesbrough fans clashed with Italians in central Rome before baton-wielding police restored order late on Tuesday, witnesses said. Middlesbrough are due to play AS Roma in the UEFA Cup on Wednesday and hundreds of English supporters have poured into the Italian capital to watch the game. Around 100 Middlesbrough and Roma fans hurled bottles at each other in the central Campo de Fiori square, causing tourists and locals to flee for cover. Police in full-riot gear soon flooded the area and laid into the fans with their batons. A number of English supporters were hurt in the clashes, but Italy's ANSA newsagency said there were no reports of serious injuries. fucking always happens in italy... if the italians always want a fight why is their army shit. i hope who's responsible is punished, boro or roma... but i get the feeling it will be blamed on the english again.
sad state of affairs when people can't just go & watch a football game if some boro fans are to blame then the fuckers want their passports taken off them so they can't leave the country & they should b banned permanently from every football ground in the country their should b some fines given out for it for the clubs

A boro fan was stabbed in Amsterdam aye but that wasn to do with football, it was due to him refusing to buy some drugs of a local. Yes shock horrror, brit turns down drugs in the dam

Fucking hell!! Look at the people on here jumping on the press bandwagon of blaming the english. We do have an innocent until proven guilty philosophy in this country, not that you'd know it judging from some of you. DO NOT beleive everything you read in the press - just because the english have got a history doesn't mean they were to blame. From what I've heard it was Roma fans who attacked some boro drinking in a bar, apparantly roma's top boy was weilding an axe . Most boro legged it (understandably given the italians reputation for carrying weapons and the fact it probably wasn't even boro 'lads' they attacked) Others stood their ground. As usual, as with the turks, greeks etc UEFA will do fuck all. IF this had happend in england we would have been hammered, no questions asked. Fucking double standards imo. on talksport now... about 200 boro fans drinking (peacefully) in bars we're attacked by about 40 'ultras' wearing balaclavas and motorcycle helmets and carrying sticks, flares, knives etc... one bloke with a child was stabbed, completely unprovoked :evil: there is a drinking ban in certain areas and security stepped up but the point highlighted is the imcompetance of the italian police and the need to change the italian game drastically. but at least its 5 italians that have been arrested. COME ON BORO, THRASH THE DIRTY CUNTS
