If it happens to be a Dell laptop then they have built in system recovery...just goes back to the way it was, the day you first switched it on

why does he want to go back?

i think it is ok, although was expecting more. a lot of it is just cosmetic.

half a gig of ram is not enough to run it off like.

He thinks it could just prove to be more of a pain and he reckons to wait until SP1.

I will try and convince him not to.

Thats a good point....alot of them have built in recovery these days...will check that out cheers.

I may try to convince him to keep it though lol

Thats what I was told off my mate who works with computers when I bought this (512mb). Why do they bother installing it on these systems then? I would have much rather had XP, but cant be arsed to install it.

they 'recommend' a gig. however, they are still selling pc's with vista with 512mb.

I got a new laptop a few months back and got a vista upgrade which just arrived last week.

gonna have to buy some more memory, which is not just a bad thing anyway...

    i'm astounded.

a post from Alexander that is actually TRUE

It can and does run OK with 512MB but that's without the full Aero interface. A lad at uni has had it since early Beta and his laptop is nowt special.

I think he's been convinced to stay with it. I found out that some bloke at work reckoned the servers would need upgrading etc.

I warned him never to listen to IT advice from an accountant ever again
