    I dont think clubs shouls be aloud the power to determine if ex players can play against them or not. Even loan deals.

    It looks like Laurent Robert has only joined Portsmouth on loan after comments from Pompey Chairman Milan Mandaric:

    "It is a two-part deal. We have taken him now and if all goes well we will sign him permanently."

    This would explain the clause that prevents Robert playing against us next season - that is not usually a feature of permanent signings.
