    Ripping music from an iPod

My laptop died recently and took all my music with it, thankfully the majority of it is on my iPod.

Any recommendations on a free program to use to rip the music from my iPod?

You don't need any software, I had to do it for my dad recently. Just copied some files onto the hard disk then dragged them into itunes.

Don't know how people can put up with having their music collection through itunes anyway.

I don't mean to sound like one of those people who campaign for firefox and it's definitely not being anal, it's just really fucking annoying. Spent about an hour fucking about with it for my dad because everything was stored in that piece of shit formatt.

What piece of shit format? All my music is in mp3 format.

iTunes is easy to use and it works with my Nike+ thingy, so it does the job.

Think he means AAC. think itunes converts all music files to AAC when it sticks them on your ipod. Means it can hold more as they are smaller files

    I tunes is shit.
I love the iphone but have always tried to stay clear of ipods in the past. Is there alternatives to get mp3s on and off your ipod/iphone without having to use itunes?
