Despite no opponent being confirmed for Ricky Hatton's American invasion, part of the plan was revealed at a packed press conference aboard the HMS Belfast, docked on the Thames, just a stone's throw away from London Bridge. What was announced did not come to much of a shock to the assembled press, which was that Ricky Hatton had signed a three fight deal with Banner Promotions and UK based outfit Fight Academy. :spangled:
hes in court in america soon tho as he has to give evidence in the case of some toss pot promoted by frank warren who says he should have fought mausa before hatton ! hes onna regret parting company with warren who despite being a knob is a biug player in the promotion game
Hatton will fight in Connecticut in May, date is down to who wins the rights to show it (HBO or Showtime). Most likely opponent is Carlos Baldomir, who shocked Zab Judah to take the WBC welterweight title
But isnt there also a dispute as to hattons mandatory challenger for the wbc belt whos trying to get a fight in before he fights baldomir ? Sure i read this last week in the mirror !
Nah, its to do with the fight against Maussa. One fighter said he was the madatory challenger and it shouldn't have been Hatton. Its why Hatton has been called to give evidence at court in NY
