Ricardinho Newcastle have been linked with a move for Sao Paulo's Brazil international midfielder Ricardinho. But it would be a major surprise if the Magpies signed another midfielder before the closure of the transfer window on Saturday. Just days ago, manager Sir Bobby Robson insisted he had enough competition in that department, to explain why he was not entering the race for Manchester United's Nicky Butt. Nevertheless, reports in South America claim Newcastle and Benfica are scrapping over the 11-times capped star, who is a free agent having recently cancelled his contract with his hometown club. The situation is further complicated by the fact that two different agents claim to be representing the 27-year-old World Cup winner: Jorge Gama and Daneil Giovannin
Re: Ricardinho Never heard of him and the caps go for nothing as Celtic learned with the 5 times capped Brazil international defender Rafeal Shite. Is he any good? The Brazilian national team cap players to increase the cost, most of the European based stars don't play in internationals unless there major games.
Played in the world cup or was a member of the squad. Mclaren said he came highly recommended from Juninho and will help out in centre midfield.
Agreed there, Tottenham put a bid in for Diego from Santos but think it was too low... They are both gonna be huge in a couple of years time.
Unless Diego can find a EU grandparent he will have to whistle to joining a club in the UK. How many caps if any has he got for Brazil?
i dont understand why players sign for clubs like spurs or liverpool?? seems to me like they disapeer into oblivion for the whole time they are there. As if diego would sign for spurs aswell.
If either of them moved to Europe they should be going to clubs that would be fighting for domestic and European honours... not rotting in the chasing pack that are living off former glories... Christiano Ronaldo to Man U... he is learining far more there than say, Hugo Viana at Newcastle. As for caps... i'm pretty sure they both played in the CONCACAF Gold Cup... Brazil sent an under-23 side but the caps will count as full ones. I doubt very much that either of them will have played in 75% of recent internationals.
How did you learn about these gems of boys. CM4? World Soccer mag? Channel 4 Brazilian football coverage? You have went from the Ossie Newcastle era to spotting the best young players in Brazil.
i listen to the world football program on sunday night/monday morning 5live. i also watch nearly all the brazillian football on channel 5!! im an expert on all things south american and the MLS!! imo the mls is a league to watch.
Brazillians go to the club that pays the most £££'s,€€€€'s or $$$$$'s Why do you think Boro sign so many.
Is the Brazil league on 5? I thought it was 4. James I am impressed, you are THEDON of North & South American football
We have a balanced wage structure at the club now... still not sure how Mendieta would fit into that tho... I buy World Soccer every month as its the best way for me to keep up with whats going on around the world...
I bet Gibbo gives his favourite Brazilian dwarf a few tax free brown envelops. Is the dwarf now Bores chief scout? he seems to sign more players for smoggies than Steve McClaren does. I like World Soccer mag
As for that 'dwarf' you will see who gets us into the final tonight... thinking of it tho, he recommended Doriva (rightly) and maybe Branco (terribly), and there have been countless stories in the Teesside press of players from Brazil being linked with Boro and Juninho being 'consulted'. World Soccer - been reading it since I was 15, never let me down!
